Winner!

Hey. Didya notice? Yep, with one day left in NaNoWriMo, I actually did it. 50,000 words in 29 days. And heck, I didn't even write on the weekends. Nice.
Now I have two things left to do -- First I have to actually finish the story. I have just the epilogue to go, but I haven't decided what's going to happen in it. For those interested, you can read the last chapter and see where I'm left. Without a deadline looming over me, I hope I actually finish the story!
Next, if I get it done, I need to go back and fix the darn thing. There's all sorts of editorial problems. Heck, in the first draft, one of the people was given a vial, but by the time he needed to use it, I needed it to be a string. And no, I didn't go back and edit, that's the whole point of NaNoWriMo.
So hey, if you like writing and always wanted to write a book, why not join us crazy people come next November and write your own? I know you don't have time, neither did I...

Muslim Takeover
First, let me get this out of the way: A very large number of members of the muslim religion DO want to take over the world. They want their law in place and enforced by government agencies. If you don't believe that, feel free to stick your head back in the sand.
Now, Always on Watch has outlined one way they're doing that in England. They are instituing Sharia law. They ARE forcing their religion on everyone else. But they're not stopping there. FrontPage Magazine and The Washington Post highlight an area of Maryland where Muslims are gathering. These are relatively peaceful muslims, in that they're not openly beheading their opponents (yet). Instead, they're trying to work within the American system to take it over. And yes, they're working with Democrats.
The problem is that their system of law is simply not permitted in this country under the Constitution that formed this country-- or is it? Now, they, with the aid of terrorists in CAIR, are trying to claim anything that prevents them from instituting their law in America is a supression of their religion, which they claim under the First Amendment. So we have a rather unique situation.
The First Amendment to the US Constitution:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Therefore, based on that text, muslims claim they are free to exercise their religion. And their religion
requires them to "behead those that insult Islam." In addition, there are dozens and dozens of laws that need to be enforced by government, in order for them to exercise their religion.
However, this conflicts with Article IV, Section 4:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
Well, they simply overcome that idea by having "elections." You know Saddam was "elected," don't you? That's where Democrats and Republicans are moving with Gerrymandering, and the muslims are moving right along with them. Both the muslims and the Democrats agree that if the majority vote for no freedom, then you get no freedom. After all, there is no higher power in their minds than government.
So, what's to stop Maryland and Dearbornistan from insituting Sharia law if they simply vote it in?

They don't care, High Fashion. They honestly don't. Their mandate is to take over the world, period. They even have a word in their religion that means it's perfectly okay to lie at will if that lie will help them take over the world. I don't think their religion has a world for hypocrisy.

Ogre,
"They even have a word in their religion that means it's perfectly okay to lie at will if that lie will help them take over the world."
It's called taqiyya (There are variant spellings). Anything uttered which furthers the cause of Allah is permissible.
Muslims are using our freedoms against us. Brigitte Gabriel has frequently mentioned that, and in her speeches delineates how that happened in Lebanon a few decades ago. Beirut used to be an open city--and a thriving one, at that. No longer!
And let's not forget that Hezbollah was democratically elected in Lebanon. The same is happening here as Muslims take political office and start pushing their agenda.
I believe that before long (within 2 years?) we could well see that any criticism of Islam will be a crime known as hate speech. Ellison and Conyers are going to try to see to that. And here's another strategy the liberals are using, the old bait-and-switch:
http://northernvirginiastan.blogspot.com/2006/11/jerry-kleins-spoof.html
The entire scenario of the future awaiting America is damned depressing.

Ogre:
We do need to do something. Last week I wrote letters to both my Senators and to my Congressman. Still waiting for a response from one Senator and one Congressman. The letter I did get was just a form letter and never addressed any of my questions and concerns.
How the hell do we get them to listen to us? Will we have to march on Washington? What if a million Americans descended on Washington and loudly proclaim that we oppose ANY other law but the law of the Constitution and of our Judeo Christian heritage? What if we all started to peacefully demonstrate everywhere?
Can we do this? We must wake them up!
Posted by: atheling2 at December 01, 2006 05:12 AM (+7zTe)

I know you're on top of this, AOW. I just wish there was some way to stop it.
Atheling2, what do you want government to do? The muslims who are taking over aren't breaking the law -- that's my point. We can demonstrate against them, but there's no way to stop them using our current form of government. That's why this is so damn depressing. They're using our good nature and our freedoms to destroy this once-great country.
Posted by: Ogre at December 01, 2006 12:30 PM (oifEm)
10
I'm not talking about the Muslims and whether or not they are breaking the law. I'm talking about Congress introducing any legislation which gives Muslims special "civil rights." I'm also talking about Keith Ellison swearing in on the Koran, instead of the Bible. Why is it that he has special treatment? Did Joe Leiberman use the Torah? Nope!
It's this treating Muslims with "special" consideration that must be stopped. School programs which are endorsed by the UN to teach the joys of being a Muslim in Calif and Oregon, which were funded by the Saudis goes on right now. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected parents' appeal to have this nonsense removed, which blatantly violates separation of Church and State.
You'll find more evidence of this kind of alarming patterns in our nation at Jihad Watch.
Posted by: atheling2 at December 02, 2006 10:17 PM (+7zTe)
11
It's incredibly scary, isn't it? Muslims are winning. Muslims are taking over this country before our eyes.
Posted by: Ogre at December 03, 2006 01:44 AM (ECkKW)
12
Well, that's why I think we have to start considering action: peaceful demonstrations, grass roots efforts to spread awareness, even civil disobedience.
I'm going to post something about a letter writing campaign for everyone to send to their Senators and Congressmen. We have to wake these people up!
I don't want to see our nation go down the tubes like Europe!
Posted by: atheling2 at December 03, 2006 11:55 PM (+7zTe)
13
But government cannot DO anything, short of banning the religion outright. I'm not sure there's anything wrong with that, but I don't see any way Democrats, or even Republicans, would ever consider doing that.
The only hope is for individuals, without government, to convince the muslims to give up their religion and their murderous ways.

Judge Creates New Rights
Well, isn't that special. Everyone out there who wants free housing payments
for life, just go put yourself in the way of a natural disaster. Because if you do, you will have THE RIGHT to free housing for the rest of your life (and maybe your children's lives, too).
So says US District Judge Richard J. "It's not my money" Lean, as he ORDERS FEMA to resume payments to all Katrina victims because
he Federal Emergency Management Agency failed to adequately explain why it ended the 18-month housing assistance program
In other words, until FEMA PROVES they had a reason that satisfies this one judge's personal opinion, they are required to continue paying out cash.
But wait, there's more. The judge agreed that
FEMA had violated the rights of Katrina victims by abruptly stopping housing payments.
So you've got that right. These people now have a RIGHT to YOUR money. You need to either word harder and earn more money that will be taken from you and given to these people
because they have a right to your cash; or, just put yourself in the path of another hurricane and suddenly have the right to free housing payments forever.
The right thing to do here? President Bush (who is in charge of FEMA) should tell the judge to take a long walk off a short pier. Then he should completely dismantle and abolish FEMA so there's no one left to pay the money.

Here we go again -- in the private sector, they have this item called "homeowners' insurance". I know it exists because I have a policy myself. Didn't these folks know about it? hadn't anyone told them?
On the same note, at least several million people, including me, donated money through one venue and another for Katrina relief -- that's the American way, or the way it's supposed to be; donate with your check book, not your taxes. In this way, the taxpaying public, as a whole, determines what we can afford to give.
This judge is just another one of those socialist parasites devoted to milking the government and therefore the taxpayer.
It's becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain any respect for the courts in this country, what with the rubbish that finds its way onto the bench these days, and passes for judges.
Posted by: Seth at December 02, 2006 02:41 AM (+Jf4+)
2
Why do you have insurance? You don't need any. If you need anything or lose anything, just ask the government and they will take it from me and give it to you. That's their job, apparently.

NC Democrat Agenda
So, what can we look forward to in the next session of the NC General Assembly, since it is now (and almost ALWAYS has been) dominated by Democrats? According to liberal Democrat; oh, I'm sorry, "independent" Lynn Bonner; there's
three things that are on the top of the Democrat agenda:
1. No more executions for child rapists; mass murderers; or violent sexual predators.
2. More destruction of freedom of choice and massive fines and penalties for putting plants in one's mouth.
3. Drastically increased costs for insurance for anyone who actually works for a living.
So what will the result be? Spend more money to incarcerate violent, evil, destructive people for longer periods of time. Spend more money to enforce nanny-state laws. Increase taxes on those who exercise freedom. Spend much, much more money by giving away cash and rewarding those who are irresponsible.
Folks, that IS today's Democrat Party in NC.

Money is Prejudiced
Did you notice that suddenly, just now, paper money
has become prejudiced? No, it's been fine all throughout recorded history, just now it's no longer "fair."
U.S. District Judge James Robertson (yeah, Clinton appointed him), claims that US Cash "violates the Rehabilitation Act" because it's not fair to blind people. Of course, the fact that blind people have been doing just fine with their cash has absolutely NO bearing on the case.
So, what's the liberal solution? Mess up the entire country. Force the US Treasury to completely change everything they do. Force all retailers in the country to refit every piece of equipment they own dealing with cash. Make all banks adjust everything they do. Cost the citizens billions upon billions of dollars: all because a couple people complained.
The simple and proper solution? Congress should simply abolish the Rehabilitation Act. Yeah, I know, Democrats are in charge, so the logical, simple, freedom-based solution will NEVER happen.

Let's go with the Democrat solution: spend as much taxpayer cash as possible without actually solving any problems so they can continue to spend more to prove they're "doing something" about the problem.

He probably got it from Europe. It really drove me nuts the first couple of months I was in Germany with the different size bills. But it certainly made it easier after a while. I agree they should abolish the Rehabilitation Act. And just say they want to change the bills to make it easier for blind or those hard of seeing. Heck, it might even help us that can't think straight. ;-)

Ogre, I can't see cash registers needing to be changed, just make sure we make the dollars smaller. Heck, our coins are different sizes. ATM machines, again... make the new bills smaller. It might take a small change to keep them together, but that is part of the American way to make money - right? ;-) Yaa... I can't resist. Bank Vaults? Please... GRIN

You think they'll make them smaller? But then the "visibility challenged" won't be able to see them. And the ATMs and stuff just won't work with smaller bills.
Hopefully Harvey's right on this one and it will become moot quickly.

Govt vs. Govt: Illegals win
Damn, can government GET any more useless when it comes to illegal, criminal invaders? Keep in mind, these are people who have broken the law.
First up, we have the Dept of Homeland Security giving a directive that can be enforced by their goons, saying that all businesses must hire only citizens or legal immigrants. This has been the law for a long time now, some just choose to ignore it. In NC, a business, in theory, could be fined $10,000 for EACH illegal they hire. There's also federal laws against hiring non-citizens. Therefore, if you employ illegal alien (criminal invaders), YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW and can be punished.
Now, the incoming chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee has written a letter to a company, telling them that they will be "charged with illegal activities in violation of state and federal law" if they DARE to fire any illegal alien criminal invaders.
(H/T to Raven and Always on Watch.)
So, which is it? If you hire an illegal, you get fined. If you fire an illegal, you get fined. Either way, if you have a company in this once-great country, you will be fined by government simply for existing.
Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

Racists Update
An update on the head racist in the US: Jesse Jackson

The reason is that the Lefties have a generally deep and abiding sympathy towards "revolutionaries". A criminal is a revolutionary insofar as he is rebelling (read: attacking, helping to disrupt) against the established social order, which the Left finds racist, bigoted, homophobic, etc. Criminal behavior which serves the purpose of helping to destroy the established social order and mores is applauded (see: Tawana Brawley, Mumia, William Jefferson, Bill & Hillery Clinton, Ted Kennedy, various ALF and ELF eco-terrorism, et al.).
But not all crime is equal. Crimes which don't serve the general Leftist goals of overthrowing society are typcially ignored or condemned.
Depending on who the criminal and victims are, the criminal himself may be condemned by the Left, especially if there is percieved to be some other ideological purpose (blaming the evil white male heterosexual conservatives, Big Business, etc). Some of these crimes would include the Olympic Park and Abortion Clinic bombings, the Waco and Ruby Ridge Massacres, various business scandals, etc.

And they looked from man to pig and pig to man and man to pig again, and soon it became impossible to tell the difference.
The value that anyone places upon a human life is a function of their relationship. Human life has no intrinsic value applicable to each life equally. Your best friend's life means everything. A stranger who lives thousands of miles away means almost nothing.
It's really not a liberal/conservative thing. Everyone cherry picks who should live and who should die, at least in their own mind.

$100 Billion+ for research
Well gee, why not? North Carolina is about to start spending quite literally an
unlimited amount of money for
biotechnology research. They want $29,000,000.00
per year forever. Why? Well, because they're government and Democrats and academics in government only one thing: more money to spend.
Is there any evidence that this new biotechnology institute will produce anything useful? Well, no, actually. Sure, there's value to biotechnology research, but why should government be the only one to do it? If there's actual, real value to this sort of research, you can rest assured that private individuals will be more than happy to conduct the research at ZERO cost to the taxpayer. But again, it's Democrats and academics, so zero to government is BAD in their minds.
Don't complain, just work harder. Remember, the NC government that is about to spend this money every year FOREVER is already in the hole over a billion dollars for this year's budget. Gee, what's another $20-30 million? They'll just raise taxes one more time.

A. None. The Market will take care of it.

Have you see the new ads up there on the left side? At the top of the left column is the space rented out to my BlogExplosion tenant. This week it's
Soapbox Jury. This is an interesting blog, as it appears to be all review-based:
Random reviews relevant to you! No nonsense views on different websites, products, services and ideas.
So if you need some randomness, take a peek.
Oh, and if you've got a product or service that you want reviewed by professionals (and that's NOT a dig at Soapbox Jury); check out ReviewMe.com
Below that ad there's a couple more. There's the ad for The Free State Project and another for ProAnagen. Why not click on them? You know you want to read more...
And if you want YOUR ad to appear in any of those locations (or others, like the bar ad on the permalink page); just check out each one of the ads -- each has a link that says something like "your ad here."

A Question for Racists
I have a question that I need answered.
According to head racist Jesse Jackson, uttering the dreaded "n-word" is a "hate crime" and should be punished as such. However, it's only a hate crime when a white person utters it. It's perfectly okay when a black person says that word.
I need to know the exact level of pigment that's required in one's skin to where the word becomes a "hate crime." After all, I don't want to participate in these made-up crimes, so I need to know. And at what time of year must that pigment be measured? In other words, some people have darker pigment in their skin in the summer. Should skin color, when determining hate crime status, be measured at only one time of year? Are there people who might actually fluctuate between having enough pigment and then not enough? If so, are those people guilty of a hate crime only when they say the verbotten word at some times of the year?
Jesse Jackson is a racist moron. And yes, if you follow him or support him in any way, you are a racist moron, too.

It depends on how much money is in it for Jesse J.
Posted by: William Teach at November 27, 2006 11:29 PM (doAuV)

Is that the secret? Maybe there's a formula where a certain amount of skin pigment + cash to Jesse = free use of certain words. Underneath that threshold and you're committing a hate crime.

Why stop with the N word?
Is ginny, wop, dago, spaghetti bender not "degrading" to Italians? There are hundreds of words that are "degrading" to wusses of all nationalities.
Are we to believe that only blacks can be offended by a word? We can expand this to religious beliefs and sexual orientations too.
Farrakhan and Sharpton can publicly call jews kikes, but that is not hate speech?
I will have to give this topic careful consideration,,,,,,if I can stop laughing.

You're close, Tomslick -- blacks can only be offended by the word if someone NON-black says it. That's why I'm trying to find out exactly how much pigment in one's skin allows one to utter the word.

Government Phones
If I were in charge of government, this is how I would direct ALL government
flunkies employees to answer the phone:
Good Morning. Thank you for calling an agency of the United States Government.
Press "1" to continue in English, or
Press "2" to disconnect until you have learned to speak English
Maybe that second option should be read in Spanish to make sure they get it...

I deal a lot with the public in my job, and, lately, we have been getting a lot of people who only speak Spanish, and are incredulous that neither I nor no one on my staff speak Spanish.
I would so dearly like to say, just one time, "why they h*ll don't you speak English? It's not my responsibility to understand Spanish in an English speaking country."

Blame Edwards?
It's no secret that John Edwards wants to run for president in 2008. The only unknown is if he will go up against Hillary or not. But he's been actively campaigning since he lost his last election.
So, since it was Rush Limbaugh's fault (and all conservative talk radio and all conservatives) when the Federal building was bombed in Oklahoma City, then, by the exact same standards, John Edwards and his support of "Wake Up Wal-Mart" is directly responsible for teens bombing Wal-Mart, right?
Let's watch and see if Mr. Edwards has any comment, much less any condemnation, for this domestic left-wing bombing.

Taxpayer Website Award
Oh, joy. Big news. Huge news. An award of merit for website design
has been won by North CarolinaÂ’s Eastern Region (NCER). Ready for the taxpayer part? Let's take a peek at who paid for this site that won this "prestigious award:"
Southern Economic Development Council's (SEDC)
Market Force, Inc.
Greenfield, an economic development consulting firm
NC Department of Travel, Tourism and Sports
And yes, every single one of those groups was paid for 100% with taxpayer cash. Every dollar was earned by someone who worked, taken by government, and given away to earn this award.
So, what is NCER and SEDC? NCER is "one of the seven regions created by the NC General Assembly to promote economic development in their respective regions." SEDC is "the largest regional economic development association in North America." Again, completely and totally bought and paid for by working people.
Tell me again how government doesn't have enough money and is efficient and has any remote interest in anything related to any sort of freedom. Go ahead, try and convince me.

Saturday After Thanskgiving
Well, it's the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It's time to do the traditional: put up the Christmas decorations. As each year goes by, I seem to end up with more and more outdoor lights. I'm not sure I can get them all up in one day any more, so I'll have to start before lunch. This year the neighbors seem to have put up a challenge.
Those who have read here before may remember my pictures from last year -- and the candy canes lining the street. Well, the folks to my left have put up their decorations already, and they've lined THEIR house with candy canes. Now my lighted canes are taller than theirs, but they might have a few more than I do. This simply will not do.
I think a trip to Lowes may be in order this afternoon after the decorations are up...

2 acres, Patty? Give me a blank check, and I'll hook you up GOOD!

Teach, come on! You can do more!
Sam, I never measured the amount of draw with the snow globe. I only run mine until about 10pm, so it only runs about 4 hours a night. With a 2-prong outlet, I can't imagine it draws much.
Cheryl, the Griswalds are my heroes. The only reason I don't put up that many lights is because I haven't had enough money to buy that many (yet).
And Tammi, you bet. The first setup is out there, but I need to stop by the store either later this afternoon or tomorrow to pick up "just a couple" more things...
