Lying NC Democrats
Now I realize that if you follow politics at all in North Carolina, you realize that it's not news that Democrats are liars. Why? It's what they do. And if they actually admitted the truth of what they want for you, the peon, even they might not get elected, no matter how much they continue to rig the election process.
Those of you who watched the elections last year and remember them (I know, that's very, very few people) may remember the main theme to the NC Democrat's campaign: Stop Corruption. Jim Black was in the process of denying that he had done anything wrong while everyone else was providing clear evidence that he was a felon. The Democrats continued to promise they would "fix" government and "end corruption."
As an aside, a quick note about Jim Black. Jim Black insisted for years that he did not do anything wrong. Even when he plead guilty to various felonies, he continued to claim he didn't do anything wrong. I can understand a person who breaks the law while claiming he did no wrong. In fact, I do that often. There are certain laws that are wrong. They are unjust laws. They do not apply to me because I answer to a higher power. No matter how many laws are passed, if they're unjust, I'm not obeying them. So I can understand Jim Black, the face of the Democrat party. But realize which laws it was that he thought were unjust and didn't apply to him: extortion, bribery, and forgery. That's the view of the Democrat party in North Carolina. Things like bribery and forgery are perfectly okay with them -- they honestly don't see anything wrong with committing those acts!
So, during the entire campaign season, with this huge cloud over their leader, the Democrats continued to say that they were the ones who were going to fix everything (after being the ones who started all the corruption). You cannot blame one bit of the corruption at the feet of Republicans -- the Democrats have run the state for OVER 100 years.
Now that the election is over and Black has finally plead guilty to felonies, the Democrat-led legislature is back at work. So, what have they got in the works for corruption? What do they plan for this year to "fix government" and ensure people like Jim Black don't continue the Democrat rein of terror, bribery, extortion, and forgery? Let's check their agenda:
Well, there you have it. That's right, the Democrats are doing absolutely nothing to change any way they have done business in the past. The new Democrat speaker of the House is completely free to engage in all the same corruption that Black engaged in. He's got his personal checking account, filled with taxpayer dollars, and he can write checks with your money for anything he wants and no one is allowed to question him.
In fact, in some ways, government is MORE secretive and can be even MORE corrupt -- they've closed hearings by the state ethics committee to the public! That's right, the committee that's supposed to meet and determine what's ethical or not in government is now only meeting in secret! So you're not even allowed to know any more what government considers ethical! Heck, Jim Black might even be ON THAT BOARD for all we know -- because we're not allowed to see it meet.
And yes, Governor Easley is on board with the total control and corruption. Two of his staffers (like he didn't know what they were doing) used their contacts and the "good old boy" network to give piles of taxpayer cash to Easley's pals. And Easley doesn't care. While it's clear that it was corrupt to the bone, and even Easley admits it was "inappropriate" (Democrat code word for criminal), Easley will not punish the staffers at all -- and the contracts still are in place.
Corruption: it's how Democrats run government in North Carolina.

Friday Feast
You know, I picked this meme up from
Raven, and she's not been playing. Well, she's finally back and
has joined in once again. So I guess I better not stop now!
Here's how it works:
Each Friday when you visit this meme, you will find 5 enticing courses for your mind to gobble up:
Appetizer
- a quick, tasty morsel to get you started
Soup
- smooth and warm to soothe your mind
Salad
- a nutritious blend of "veggies"
Main Course
- a hearty portion that is sure to satisfy
Dessert
- light concoction for your sweet tooth
And now for this week's fare:
Appetizer: Name two things that made you smile this week.
Well, it's a Friday, so I'm going with the more fun answers. I smiled when I went to the store to buy
some beer and saw they actually had 12-packs of
Carlsberg on sale. I'm still into supporting those Danes, you know. Another time I smiled? There was this lllama...
Soup: Fill in the blank: Don't you hate it when ________?
You BET I do. Oh man, that makes me so mad, I just want to spit! Doesn't it make you mad, too? Oh, just thinking about it and typing it really raises my blood pressure. I don't know how others can STAND that. And some people like it? What kind of sickos are those? Oh, it just makes me so MAD.
What?
Salad: When you can't go to sleep, what is your personal remedy to help yourself drift into Lullabyland?
What? Why in the world would I want to even GO to some place called "Lullabyland?" What sort of insane place is that? That sounds like somewhere we should send the terrorists for torture. I can picture this little square room -- padded for safety -- with light blue clouds on the wall. Playing over and over again through the hidden hi-fi speakers is "Rock-a-Bye-Baby" -- and NOT a Billy Idol version of it. HELP me get there? I'd fight tooth-and-nail to stay OUT of that place.
Main Course: What is something about which you've always wondered but have not yet found a good answer?
Oh my. Oh. There is a strong temptation here to go with the obviously political answer. I could say something like, "Why do liberals hate freedom?" or "Why do 'progressives' fight reality and common sense?" But since it's Friday afternoon and I'm trying to keep things lighter, I won't.
Why don't llamas have two heads? I mean, sure, the obvious answer is that they'd be missing their rear section, but that could be located on the bottom in the middle or something. I've never found a good answer to that question...
Dessert: What is your favorite pasta dish?
Does the person coming up with these questions even live on the same planet as me? I mean, really! First they ask what people do to get locked in a padded room, now they're asking what sort of dish you like that's made out of food. Let me tell you about pasta -- I EAT pasta, I don't make serving plates from it! Geez.
Be sure to stop by next week and learn more about Ogre with the weekly Friday Feast.

Friday Fun Picture Phone
It's Friday afternoon. Anyone up for some fun? I just happened upon
this post where a fellow in England is asking for people to call him. Well, not to call and talk, but to send pictures:
I bet I could get a complete stranger to take a picture of there self with the name of my blog ( The Dry Oasis ) clearly visible and send it to me.
Doesn't sound difficult does it. Well yes it is!
So here's my mobile number 07936 323131 or +447936 323131 (outside UK)
And he wants "more than a couple." Let's see what we can do, shall we? If you've got a picture phone, why not take a shot and send it along? And it doesn't have to be your face in the picture, he just wants a picture of "your self" in the picture...
I put my feet in the picture. Nice, huh? Now I just have to get my cell phone plan to accept that I actually want to use international calling (it's off by default), and my picture will be on it's way. Come on, join in the fun! Wouldn't it be great if he got 20 or 30 pictures?

Gays Use Government
The march for forced acceptance, no matter the cost, continues for the gay movement in America. They continue to use the absolute force of government to demand that you completely and totally accept and approve of their lifestyle choices. This time, they're doing it in
Deerfield, IL.
The militant gays are using the power of government schools to not only force 14-year olds to listen to graphic depictions of gay sex acts, but they are using that same force of government to force children to lie to their parents. And if the children dare disobey the all-powerful government, you can be assured that they will be severely punished. There's no word from the school district as to whether they will require all students to start wearing brown shirts. It was not clear at the time of this writing whether students are being asked to turn in any parents who attempt to pry the truth out of their children.
There is a reason that Ogre supports homeschooling. No matter how much you might think that YOUR government-run school isn't this bad, it is. I bet every single parent of every child in Deerfield High School thought that THEIR school was just fine and that they wouldn't have to put up with the radical leftist agenda being forced down their throats before this.
EVERY single government school in the country is suceptible to this truth-twisting by the left. The left will continue to work and penetrate every school they can get to -- and as you can see, they have absolutely no qualms about lying to get their agenda forced down the throats of the young people. You can be that in this secret presentation, in which children were forced to LIE TO THEIR PARENTS, there was no equal time for any other side of the debate. The entire discussion appears to have been about how being gay is wonderful, including graphic descriptions of gay sex acts -- and you can be sure there was NO discussion of the risks and societal consequences of those same acts.
Government schools stink. They have absolutely NO redeeming value AT ALL. There is absolutely NO reason to send your child to ANY government run school anywhere in the country. Those that run the school only want your child because it gives them cash from your pocket. The left only want access to your child to ram their viewpoint down their throat while unopposed. YOUR CHILD WILL SUFFER if you send them to ANY "public" school in this country. You can teach your child everything that is taught in a government school in about 15 minutes a day -- seriously.
For those who are going to cry about your child not getting to "socialize" with others -- keep in mind this gay lobby assault. Your child is learning to socialize by being told to lie to you and to approve and participate in gay acts.
There is absolutely NO VALUE at all to any government school. They should all be shut down immediately.

I just left another heated debate on gay issues. I cede they have issues alright, but they aren't issues that can be fixed by legislation.
I'm ready to give up... honestly, I am. I'm ready to die... not as in committing suicide but I know that war has been declared on Christianity and not just from places across the sea. Why don't they just go ahead, shoot us and be done with?

Steph: "Why don't they just go ahead, shoot us and be done with?"
Um, Steph, please don't make suggestions like that. Some of these hard-left nuts may actually take you up on that. Historically that has happened. Leftists do tend to kill groups of people that disagree with them, sometimes in the millions of people.

Yes, I know but what's the point of delaying it when it's inevitable? A year, 2, a decade, or couple of decades... doesn't matter... it's going to happen. It's getting to a point where the only choice is give them utter control or die. So... I'm ready to die.
I think I'm just tired today. I have been doing a lot of research on a big piece and some of it is really depressing as well as the fact that all the news and events are really depressing... I'll probably be alright tomorrow. I'll find something that will brighten the outlook and keep on keeping on (OMG, how that dated me, lol.)

david, first they'd have to pick up guns. Lefties in this country are scared of guns.
As for what public education produces... well, it produced me, and almost every well-balanced thinker I personally know. Baby and bathwater, here. We need to have public education, but I agree, it needs to be tremendously overhauled. Maybe blown up and start over again?

I think the odds of a lefty shooting themselves if they tried to shoot a gun are about 50/50. Unfortunately, in many places they control the military -- who know how to use guns and follow orders.
Birdwoman -- the public education you got and the one that's being delivered today are DRASTICALLY different things. They are so different that I bet you wouldn't even recognize "education" if you saw it up close today. I do, and it is NOT what it was even 10 years ago.

Reid's Useless Resolution
Clueless Senate Majority Leader (yes, it pains me to say that, but this is where National Politics has now taken us -- to have reduced the once-respected position of majority leader of the United States Senate down to a clueless, political posturing person seeking only advancement of his own political power at the expense of a once-great country) has
proposed a resolution in the Senate that will, well, nothing. It will not only appear to do nothing, it will actually have no effect on anything in the world. And the lefties are supporting him fully.
First, it's a resolution. That means it just says how the Senate "feels" about something. That's all. It requires nothing of anyone. Regardless, it's still rather powerful. If the Senate passed a resolution that said that the French are smelly, the French would be really angry at us and might even surrender. So while Senate resolutions don't actually DO anything, they do send clear messages.
So, what's this powerful, "anti-war" message that Reid wants to send? He wants US Troops used in Iraq to defend themselves, train Iraqis, and to participate in counter-terrorism operations.
Harry?
Mr. Reid?
Earth to Mr. Reid.
Hello?
Anyone home?
I would absolutely LOVE for someone to get to Mr. Reid and ask him to state what the US Troops are currently doing in Iraq. Are they training Iraqis? Are they participating in counter-terrorism operations? What else are they doing? Folks, Reid wants to pass a resolution in the United States Senate to DEMAND that the U.S. Troops in Iraq CONTINUE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOW! And he demands that they start doing what they're doing now by March 31, 2008.
This one really takes the cake on political posturing. You can bet if he passes this resolution, he will claim he supports the troops and he opposes the war. And he'll get more power and more money from the fools that actually believe him.
Banana Republic? If only we had that much sense.

Ogre, I hate to be contrarian...okay, I love to be contrarian. LOL
The more time the Dems waste the better. If they were actually going to repeal some laws, then I would be upset about them wasting time. But, given the alternatives of them actually passing bad legislation or wasting time on resolutions that have no meaning and no teeth, please, please, please, keep this debate going and waste all the time you want. I hope they spend the next two years endlessly debating whether to pass a resolution that the sky should be blue. The republic would be safer.

Fun Facts about Llamas?
Wow. I just found this great,
fact-filled page about llamas. I just learned so much. I think I've replaced the part of my brain that remembers how to walk with great llama knowledge. Who would have known things like this about llamas:
Llamas are bigger than frogs.
The llama lives in big rivers, like the Amazon
The llama has a heart, two eyes, a forehead, and a beak for eating honey
They are also equippped with fins for swimming
They live on a diet of live humans
They pee on your lawn
Facially, the llama resembles a cross between a rabbit and a camel. And a kangaroo. There's a llittle bit of goat there, too. Their bodies are best described by imagining a medium-sized deer wearing thick, bobbled cotton pyjamas. Llamas are thus one of the best evolutionary arguments against the purported theory of intelligent design.
And how about this introduction:
The Llama (lat. Lama glama panorama) is a llarge, camel llike animal with distinct llion features, was originally created by Lenny Washington. Growing up to 27' in some places, Llamas constitute a major part of the Welsh economy, bringing in millions of Euros each year (barring leap years, of course). The vast majority of llamas are not dangerous, although it could hurt were one of the bigger ones to topple on top of you.
You really should go read that page. You're sure to learn something.

Sometimes I worry about you, my friend! LMBO! Breeders in Colorado bred them in hope of replacing the more "enviro-destroying" mule. Hunting outfitters (stud muffins, one and all!) in Colorado have a favorite joke: "How do you pack a llama?" Answer: "one on either side of a mule." So much for the Californicated enviro-weenies grand plans. Thankfully, since they've infested my birth state!

I wonder which llama they were breeding:
Llamas have varying llengths and stylles of fur, depending on the specific breed. Normall llamas (Lama glama docudrama) have short, woolllly brown fur. The "Outrageous Llama" (Lama glama bananarama) has very llong, wiry black fur, often dreadllocked or (occasionalllly) sideparted. The rarest breed of llama, the "Vicious Llama" (Llama glama cha-cha-cha), has no fur at allll - instead, they wear wigs. The most distinctive llama fur surely belongs to the Stoat-Tongued Alvatropintovloveaor Llama of Hessellink (Lama glama albatrosstacfloapduckama). Its fur is made of paper and glue.

Bush Works on 51st State
President Bush was
in Mexico today, talking to el Presidente Felipe Calderon. Bush asked Felipe if he would consider being a governor instead of a president. Bush appeared to promise him huge piles of cash if he would consider the offer.
Meanwhile, Calderon said that he wasn't going to do anything about drugs at all. He simply complained that Americans wanted drugs, so his country was going to provide them. He said that he would stop producing drugs when America stopped buying them.
Next, Calderon complained about the imaginary border fence. He was very insistent that Bush stop construction of any fence between the two countries. What I want to know is why Bush didn't ask WHY? Well, I know why Bush didn't ask -- because Bush doesn't want a fence either! Since Mexico is just another state, there's no reason to have a fence there. But no one else seemed to ask WHY Calderon didn't want a fence between our two alleged countries.
It's pretty clear why -- he wants his people to have free and unfettered access to all the cash they can get from the United States government. And that's wrong. The quickest, easiest way to create a new border between these once countries is to absolish ALL cash to non-citizens: no school, no healthcase, no housing, no food stamps -- nothing.
But that would require guts and the desire for freedom, so I'm not holding my breath.

Not only that, Calderon took no responsibility for ANYTHING, including the immigration problems. He basically said it was ALL the U.S.' responsibility.
As for the other, I'd be amenable if it didn't cost too much. The border between Mexico and Central America would be a lot shorter to build a fence across. All those Mexicans that are coming here anyway, would get automatic citizenship, schools, and possibly learn what freedom is since they would be required to learn something about their new country's history (small hope since the libs are rewriting history all the time but still...). On top of that, it would topple the fascist totalitarian regime the prevents most Mexicans from getting decent jobs and educations... at least until the Dems get back into the presidency... and all those companies that moved South of the Border would be back to paying U.S. income tax and be subject to fair wage laws of this country again. We'd also get Mexico's small oil reserves to add to what we already have.
I don't have anything against Mexicans, per se, so I could live with that happening.
Posted by: Steph at March 14, 2007 06:48 PM (AC9Dc)
2
And just think -- we'd get to collect taxes from the few Mexicans that did work.
But enforcing the drug laws would be a bit tough -- which might mean the state of Mexico would pass it's own drug laws, legalizing drugs, and collecting even more taxes from that trade...

They're getting that anyway, so what would be different?

I love the idea of Statehood for countries like Mexico. But consider what happened to the once great County, West Germany. They reunited with the former communist nation of East Germany and ruined their economy and became just another socialist state. I suspect that much the same thing would happen to us if we could get Mexico as a state. The additional strain on our system would be overwhelming. Yes, it would dramatically improve the lives of the Mexican people. They would suddently have rights, which they do not now have. But the Dem party would rule for the short remainder of our time as a country. Look what motor-voter did to us here, by allowing illegals to vote. And these are the hard-working people motivated enough to leave Mexico and come here to get jobs. Think about those who stayed home. What will they want? A free ride? And how would they vote? If there were some way to make them understand where wealth comes from, that you cannot vote yourself other people's money forever, then perhaps we could do it. Otherwise, NO.
Posted by: David at March 14, 2007 07:57 PM (fXOqq)
5
I wonder if the socialism would creep to the US, or if the system would finally go bankrupt under the strain of trying to suddenly bring tens of millions of third-world residents up to our standard. Certainly every single business there would be out of business in a day because they couldn't pay minimum wage. Every restaurant would be shut down for not meeting our health standards. And I think the sudden, massive bills to the US would be enough to ruin socialism. It might just destroy the US and we'd go back to having independent states. And we could join together in a union with limited government...

6
That last post bears a lot of thinking... or dare I say hoping?
Posted by: Steph at March 15, 2007 12:07 AM (AC9Dc)
7
That's a bit selfish of us to expect Mexico to curtail its two largest cash producing exports, isn't it? What little of an economy they have would probably crash if not for drugs and illegals.
Posted by: Dana at March 15, 2007 03:14 AM (RsCmF)
8
That's a good point, Dana. I bet their economy would completely crash without our cash.

Stupid Oklahoma Indians Show Their Intelligence
Look, I've got nothing against people who aren't all that smart. I understand that it takes all types and that not everone can be very intelligent. But sometimes when people make lots of noise and make the news, they're really showing how unintelligent they are -- and I feel sorry for them and the spectacle they are making of themselves.
In this case, it's Terry Ragan, a "Native American" who is complaining about an English-Only law that's been proposed in Oklahoma.
First, you might wonder why I put "Native American" in quotes. It's because Terry Ragan is a racist. He's viewing people only by the color of their skin. I'm a native American. I was born here, so that makes me native. That's what I put on all the EEOC forms, too. So Terry, stop trying to represent all Native Americans -- you certainly don't represent me.
Next, Terry is complaining that the Choctaw Indians are losing their language and this bill would continue that. No, Terry, you're completely wrong. If the Choctaw Indians are losing their language, you have NO ONE to blame but the Choctaw Indians. If you Choctaw Indians want to have your own language on your own reservation, you just have your own language - -ON YOUR OWN RESERVATION.
The English-only laws are an attempt to streamline government services. They are an attempt to unify a people together in one nation. If you don't want to be part of that nation, that's fine. You have your own lands, go there and stay there. If you don't want to participate and be part of America, that's okay. I don't mind. But stop trying to force America to be Choctaw Indian.
English-only laws, as Terry may be unaware, will have NO EFFECT on the Choctaw Indian on their reservation. It would require GOVERNMENT agencies to work in the English language. It would require AMERICAN GOVERNMENT forms to be printed in English. It would require absolutely NOTHING of the Choctaw Indian. ZERO.
Oh, but if you Choctaw Indians want to continue getting cash from the US government? Well, in that case you're going to have to learn English. Once again -- if you don't want to associate with America, you are absolutely free to do so. But if you want to deal with the US Government, LEARN ENGLISH. And if you want to "save" the Choctaw Indian language, you just go right ahead -- but don't expect me to do it, or pay for it, for you.

I read that headline this morning and thought how ignorant can someone be.
Like they are going to force people to only speak English because it's a law that forms will be in English only.
You can speak and read any damn language you want, the government isn't forcing you to speak English.

Of course, it can be considered a logical extension of the Democrat mindset: it doesn't really matter what the problem is -- government can solve it.

And Angel -- no, we don't have any borders. And there are various groups working to destroy our culture. The only thing left uniting us as a people is the language -- and many don't even want that.

Often cyclones form there but cannot become very intense before hitting land. However, Sidr developed in the open ocean near the Andaman Islands, and has all the time it needs to reach peak intensity without obstruction. This is a scary, scary hurricane. Let's hope it weakens again, and does not hit a populous area. Bangladesh is the worst nation in the world to be hit by tropical depressions. The nation is essentially a flat, flood plain and most of its land is less than 10 metres about sea level. Bangladesh has lost hundreds of thousands of people in previous cyclones. Let's pray that the storm avoids...

Ask Your Country?
I found
this gem over at
Principled Discovery. I warn you, this is going to make you sick. At least it SHOULD make you sick. Anyone who loves and believes in freedom will have trouble keeping your breakfast down:
Ask not what your country can do for you...
Actually, go ahead, Ask.
It's an advertisement for socialism. And the ad is paid for and produced by the United States government. It is wrong on so many levels.
In case you're not getting it, the advertisement points you to a government web site where you can learn how to leech off others. It's a site that teaches you how to be a lazy bastard so you don't have to work -- instead, you can live off the backs of those who do work.
I went to the site. I threw up. Then I read more on the site.
Two of the top links on the site entice you to get government jobs. As if we don't already have way, way too many people being paid for doing nothing as government employees, they're trying to hire more! We should cut the government workforce by about 90% and we might see an improvement.
But, of course, the very first link in the list of links is "Benefits and Grants." If you follow that link, it takes you to a whole list of things that the government will give you because someone else worked, produced, and earned it. Government benefits, free insurance, free cash, free bill payments, free food, free housing, free legal assistance, free medicine, free "native american" cash, free training -- and you can do it fast, online!
What a horrible country we have created. As Dana noted:
Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.
--attributed to Benjamin Disraeli, unverified
I'm not sure if we're in the dependence stage, or if we've just gone all the way to bondage already.

NC Legisature to Ban Guns
Despite judges having
recently ruled that U.S. citizens DO happen to have the right to own a gun (protected by that pesky second amendment), Democrats in North Carolina will not stop. They don't like guns. They don't like them not because they don't like hunting, but because they don't want their enemy (the people) to be capable of shooting them.
However, North Carolina is a generally rural state. Guns bans don't go over too well in this state, despite what the "planners" and "image-conscious" want. So if the Democrats in Raleigh actually admitted they didn't like guns, the people who just press that "D" button because they don't know any better might actually not press that "D" button. So the Democrats have to lie and hide in order to get their real agenda passed.
This time it's Senate Bill 8 that they have chosen as their vehicle. This bill is an end run around the concealed carry bill that slipped past them a few years back. The way they want to render the concealed carry bill worthless is to simply make it so you can't actually USE the permit anywhere. And of course, the bill is titled completely (and intentionally) with a deceptive title: "Expand Safe Zones." A more accurate title could be "Expand predator zones."
The bill would make it a felony to drive your car (if you happened to have a firearm in it) down a road with two schools on it. You could be on the interstate going 75mph, but if you passed "too close" to two schools, you'd be a FELON. Oh, and if that's not enough for you, the way the law is written, you could be considered a FELON if you drive too close to a MCDONALDS with your firearm. And that's not exaddgeration, that's what's in the damn bill.
Now, you just try and picture where you will be permitted to drive your car with your firearm if you exclude 1000 feet from every fast-food restaurant in the state, every park, every school or "educational facility," and any "child care" facility. That's right, this bill would effectively make anyone a felon who actually carried a firearm anywhere in the state other than their own backyard (except those who lived near a McDonalds -- you'd be felons in your own yard).
And even worse, the Democrats know this is a bad bill, so they're playing games with it. They sent it to committee without reading it on the floor. They know that there are many groups who are watching them and will strongly oppose this blatant gun ban. So they've hidden the bill in a committee without reading it on the floor -- this is a setup so they can, at literally any moment, bring the bill to the floor for a reading. They will do this when they think no one is looking, or perhaps, like the lottery, when certain legislators are "absent."
I want honesty in government. I want freedom. I'm obviously asking WAY too much from Democrats in North Carolina.

Steph, they're going after the handguns first. That way they can claim that they're supporting the second amendment and hunting.
And David, they just hate guns. They don't want to take any chances that people might use them in rebellion. And they absolutely CANNOT admit it.
Posted by: Ogre at March 14, 2007 11:58 AM (oifEm)

hey, people can be shot with rifles and shotguns just as easily as a handgun. they can also be killed with bows and knives.
If they don't stop and think about what they are doing to whom, they might just find themselves in a position of having to defend their lives.
Posted by: Steph at March 14, 2007 01:40 PM (AC9Dc)
5
Yes, but Democrats all ALL about incrementalism. They won't go after the long guns until they've gotten rid of the handguns.
And they are thinking, Steph, and they know they might have to defend themselves -- that's why they want to disarm the people, so they don't have to defend themselves against firearms. Seriously.

firearms are only one way that deals death. they ain't thinking at all... the other ways are probably a lot more painful and take longer to kill ya... so their thinking is really screwed up... seems to me it would be a lot easier to govern an empowered people than have to worry about knives in the back... i started to say something else but figured, just in case there are terrorists or murderers reading this blog I better not, lol. As smart as you are, I bet you can use your imagination and figure it out.
Posted by: Steph at March 14, 2007 03:02 PM (AC9Dc)
7
But they know that firearms are the easiest way to organize a resistance. They know that there are thousands of these firearms already in the state and people know how to use them. If they can get rid of a few at a time, they hope to get rid of all of them. And then it will be much harder to organize a violent group to get them out of power -- especially when their side has guns.
Posted by: Ogre at March 14, 2007 03:09 PM (oifEm)
8
not unless they take their cars away too or set up checkpoints for mandatory searches when coming back over states lines...I don't think the government would have the manpower... i know what they're thinking and they're really stupid... and honestly, really i'm just giving you a hard time today... you "sounded" like you needed to blow off some steam... no matter what stupidity they try to legalize there is always a way around it for free thinking people... they might govern actions and words but they really can't govern your thoughts... unless they legislate mandatory lobotomies or something... which would disable their tax paying workforce, which they need to fund their stupidity.
Posted by: Steph at March 14, 2007 05:13 PM (AC9Dc)
9
They know they can't get all the guns - but they know they can get a lot of them. They know if they make "safe zones" where guns aren't allowed, many law-abiding citizens won't take their guns there. You can bet the city of Raleigh will be a "safe-zone."
They're counting on the majority to obey the rules. If they keep making things worse little by little, they hope to make it so the population will be disarmed. Look how many people turn in guns when they have "buy back" programs.

Good Gun News!
If you were watching the national news last weekend, you
probably missed some of the
biggest news regarding gun rights, well, in a VERY long time. You see, the typical anti-gun press (CBS, ABC) completely ignored this gigantic ruling. Only NBC actually covered the decision (even if it was followed up with strong criticism of the decision).
The decision was that the second amendment was found Constitutional. This is the first time that has been the case in a very, very long time.
Most gun cases you see or read about hinge on other factors -- usually technicalities, wordings, economics, etc. But this case was argued on just the one factor -- the defense basically was just one line: I have the right to own a firearm based on the second amendment to the Constitution.
Most legal experts refused this case. The NRA didn't want to touch this one. NO ONE wanted a ruling on the second amendment because once it was ruled on those grounds, this would affect guns laws around the country. Almost no government ban of firearms would be able to stand under this decision.
So, of course, the liberals in DC are appealing the case. First it goes to the entire appeals court, and then it will likely be appealed to the Supreme Court (no matter which way the entire court rules). The only way this can really get sidetracked now is if the majority of the appeals court can get with the lunatic opinion of one judge who actually claimed that the Constitution doesn't apply to DC because they're not a state. Any other option will either firmly prove in judicial opinion one way or another: either individuals have a right to bear arms or they don't.

yeah that is huge, although it was interesting to note that the dissenting judge remarked that the states rights didn't apply to the district because it wasn't a state... now all we can hope for is that states pass laws like Oklahoma where it is illegal for companies to tell their employees that they cannot have firearms in their cars...
Posted by: chris at March 13, 2007 06:06 PM (rBjHa)

Wasn't that judge certifiable? I bet the residents of DC would be rather surprised to find out they don't have ANY rights. And it's also weird to think that this judge likely thinks the legal residents of DC aren't protected by the Constitution, but I bet she thinks the illegal criminals who keep invading America are.

DC isn't a state. In no way, shape, or form should it EVER be considered a state. That would be a really bad move. But it's still part of the United States -- the capital. So the Constitution applies.

No Money for Poor Healthcare
A bunch of people in Orlando
are complaining that the poor don't have any money. Is that a shock to you? Did you think we called them "the poor" because they were loaded? And as usual, the vast majority of these "victims" are criminal aliens in Florida.
So what's the Democrat and Socialist solution? The one implied in the article -- that everyone else should be forced at gunpoint to give more cash to these "agencies" that are "helping" the poor. In other words, more taxes for those that work to pay for those that do not, yet again.
To make this clear -- I have absolutely no problem with anyone who wants to help someone. I can understand a hospital or agency that wants to open and help the poor. I give money and time to some such organizations. But these organizations can ONLY work when they are truly voluntary. If they take even one dollar from a government agency, then they are no longer "non-profit," nor are they even charitable.
When you accept money from a government, you are taking money that was forced from others. It was not given freely to you. If you want charity, you simply cannot accept it -- because it was taken by force, not willingly. In a free market and a free country, of the poor will be helped and others will not. If the US government decides to help every single person who needs money, they will punish those who work, making more "poor," AND they will encourage every person on the planet to come to this country for the free medical care (and cash).
That's wrong, plain and simple. I'm sorry there are those who are suffering. I'm sorry there are those who are poor and cannot afford medical care. But I refuse to take by force from one person to give to another -- that's plain wrong. I will give what I have to help people. I will help people. But I cannot participate in a system that will throw you in jail or shoot you if you do not give them money.
Government is completely and totally incapable of ANY sort of charity ANY time.
The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.
Matthew 26:11
But I hope I, personally, can claim as Job did:
I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the orphan who had no helper...I made the widow's heart sing for joy...I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy, and I investigated the case which I did not know.
Job 29:12-16
And that "I" is not the "royal" I, nor is it government -- it simply cannot be.

The only healthcare I have is what I pay for out of my own pocket. Can't afford health insurance and even if I could, my fees would still be exhorbitant. Pay for my medicine, too. Health insurance would cost me $1100+/month plus copays... just for me. My medical bills average about $50/month including prescription medicines, except for lab tests which happen once a year.
Given those facts, I wouldn't be buying insurance for myself but for other anonymous people whom insurance cos. are forced to cover through government subsidies at much lowered costs and they make up the difference by charging me 10 times what the government pays. Greed and socialized medicine are a perfect match. Thanks but no thanks. I'll keep paying for it out of pocket.

Well, at least according to Democrats. They honestly believe that you shouldn't have to pay for your own healthcare. Instead, everyone else should have to pay -- no matter what risky health options you choose. That's just wrong. But if Democrats get a majority and the presidency, you can absolutely count on it happening.

my wife and i were forced to go to the free neo-natal clinic in Orlando a couple of years ago. i was working full time and in school but that didn't matter, the place i worked for didn't offer health insurance. it wouldn't have mattered much anyways as the clinic in question is the ONLY clinic for high risk patients in Central Florida. you see, this is the same clinic that every goes to for high risk issues regardless of weather they have insurance or not, the difference is, the ones with insurance go on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, while the uninsured go on Tuesday and Thursdays... you know things are bad when a 10:30AM doctors appointment is over with at 5pm and it isn't because of medical complications... its because the place sucks... we were forced to sit in the lobby with pregnant women from the drug rehab center that was located right across the street and the inmates from the county jail that would show up in their jumpsuits, handcuffed to an officer... personally, half of the women should have been in jail for child endangerment as they were obviously crack heads...it was a lovely experience, and every since then, my wife has understood why free health care is a shitty idea.

Good experience. Now don't get me wrong -- I have absolutely NOTHING against free healthcare. I'm opposed to the forced government funding of it.
Did you know that before the government got involved, poor people actually got health care? Yes, people, it is possible to live without government. It's just that the left, Democrats, and just about everyone in power don't want you to.

"we were forced to sit in the lobby with pregnant women from the drug rehab center that was located right across the street and the inmates from the county jail that would show up in their jumpsuits, handcuffed to an officer..."
About the only thing the French have ever done right is their abortion law. They allow abortions. When a woman first finds out she's pregnant she can have an abortion right then and there. If she chooses not to have one, if the baby is born with any defects that are caused by the mother's lifestyle... she goes to jail, right then and there.
Now, if the U.S. wants to support abortion, that's the way to do it. I wonder how many of those crack heads would still be pregnant?
Now, mind you, I'm not pro-abortion but it seems like it's here to stay whether I like it or not. So why not make it tougher on them instead of letting them have their cake and eat it too?
Posted by: Steph at March 13, 2007 05:58 PM (AC9Dc)
9
Why not? Because it's an innocent life. I believe that's a baby in there and aborting it is killing it. That baby didn't do anything wrong, so why should it be killed because the mother's a crappy person? Want to make them stop having babies? Take away welfare.
I can hear the cries already, "What about the children?"
One word: orphanages.
Posted by: Ogre at March 13, 2007 06:04 PM (oifEm)

Yeah, put them in orphanages and make the parents pay child support. This generation really has no concept of behavioral consequences, does it?
Posted by: Steph at March 13, 2007 07:25 PM (AC9Dc)

To the liberals, orphanages are evil. Mainly because they were historically run by private, religious charities!

"Pregnant Illegal Aliens Overwhelming Emergency Medicaid"
from the article:
"The study found that 99 percent of the 48,391 people who received emergency Medicaid in North Carolina over the four-year period were illegal immigrants, 95 percent were female and 93 percent were Hispanic.
More than 80 percent received care related to childbirth and complications of pregnancy. Spending on care for pregnant women increased 22 percent between 2001 and 2004."

And that's why we're going to raise taxes.
Did you know there's a regular bus service from Florida to NC? It's a daily run -- they pick up illegals from Florida and drop them off at DMVs in North Carolina. They get NC DLs and then get back on the bus and return to Florida -- all the in same day. I guess if they're pregnant, they're staying for the free ride.

Offensive Smell? Leave your Property.
A tribunal in Australia
has ruled that if you make a smell that someone else does not like, then you can be ordered out of your house. Keep that in mind -- if you don't like the smell of peppers and onions cooking in your neighbor's flat, you can get them thrown out of the apartment complex. If you don't like a certain cologne that's worn by a neighbor, just complain and out they go.
Nope, no such thing as freedom left in Australia, either. I really think the only true hope left for freedom on the entire planet may be The Free State Project.

The problem with the Free State Project is that it's too small. Once socialism completes its hold in this country it would be a matter of days before NH is overrun and defeated as a free state. What needs to happen is a coalition of many states that still value freedom. I don't think it will happen though until things reach a crisis point.
Posted by: Steph at March 13, 2007 03:20 PM (AC9Dc)

Never underestimate the power a few, committed individuals. I have talked with a lot of the people involved. I know others in New Hampshire. They will resist. Some will do so non-violently, some violently. If the Free State Project reaches it's goal (and perhaps even if it doesn't), New Hampshire will be free -- or the majority of it's citizens will be dead or in a federal jail.
I don't see any large-scale way to organize people who like freedom. Freedom-lovers want to be left alone. They don't WANT power. So they don't organize nearly as well as the left whose only desire is to tell others what to do.

We organized once before in history. Perhaps we can do it again when the crisis point is reached. If I'm not careful I'm going to get arrested for preaching sedition, lol... especially if the Dems get into complete power as is their goal. Will yall come break me out of prison?

When we did it before, it was a small group of people -- just like the Free State Project proposes. But people are getting so used to the slavery coming a little at a time that it will be very, very hard to get them to actually DO anything for freedom. Very difficult. The socialists are extremely good at not presenting a target.

You know, I don't know that party matters - dems and republicans both want power.
We have a local guy who got elected to our board of commissioners to do reform. He finishes out his term this year. He sent a letter to his constituents saying veni, vidi, vici, see you later. He's not running for reelection.
wish we had more pols like that.

Good Old Boys in Raleigh
More details are
coming to light showing even more corruption in Raleigh, going back even more years. This time it's governor Easley and his cronies who are using taxpayer money to give to newly created jobs for friends and political allies.
Gee, isn't this the same thing that Jim Black did? And he was just found guilty of federal felonies. But since he "resigned," the Democrats (who run Raleigh) have suddenly cleaned up everyone and every thing. Well, you know they're lying because their lips are moving.
So how did we get to this point of a deep-rooted, rotting, and corrupt system of government? One-party rule. The Democrats have literally controlled the state of North Carolina for OVER 100 years. There has only been one Republican governor in that time period, and there has only been one Republican majority in the House. The NC Senate has been literally ruled with an iron fist for more than 100 years.
Therefore the Democrats can literally do anything they want. They can break the rules and then change the rules and claim they didn't break them. They can openly break the law and there's no one to charge them with a crime. They can spend money faster than they bring it in and then lie about the money -- and there's no one to stop them.
If you're voting Democrat in North Carolina, you are NOT voting based on any issues at all. You're not even voting for the environment, for the children, or for progress. Instead, you're voting to keep a power-hungry, corrupt mob in place for a longer period of time. They will continue to be corrupt. They will continue to select their constituents, instead of the other way around. They will not stop until they are stopped. The people of North Carolina are the only ones who can stop them. Will you?

Marine Rules for a Gunfight
USMC Rules for Gun fighting:
1. Bring a gun. Preferably two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.
2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.
4. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.)
5. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.
6. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
7. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.
8. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. "All skill is in vain when an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket."
9. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.
10. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
11. Have a plan.
12. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.
13. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.
14. Flank your adversary when possible and always protect yours.
15. Never drop your guard.
16. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.
17. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In God we trust...everyone else keep your hands where I can see them).
18. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH...hesitation kills.
19. The faster you finish the fight, the less injured you will get.
20. Be polite. Be professional. And have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
21. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.
22. Your number one option for Personal Security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
23. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun the caliber of which does not start with a "4."
Navy Rules for Gun fighting:
1. Go to Sea
2. Send the Marines
3. Drink Coffee

to quote my favorite movie drill instructor
"The deadliest weapon in the world is a marine and his rifle. It is your killer instinct which must be harnessed if you expect to survive in combat. Your rifle is only a tool. It is a hard heart that kills. If your killer instincts are not clean and strong you will hesitate at the moment of truth. You will not kill. You will become dead marines and then you will be in a world of shit because marines are not allowed to die without permission. Do you maggots understand?"

Germans Rewrite History
Some total lunatics that apparently run some area of Germany
think that if they retroactively removed Hitler's citizenship, then all of history will be different. Maybe this is the stupid mindset that has Democrats today "apologizing" for things they never did, like offering reparations for slavery.
And they really do think this:
The city “keeps getting labelled as the place that helped Hitler get his German citizenship”, said Isolde Saalmann, a local MP
Well, the problem is that it's a fact. The city DID grant Hilter citizenship. As a result of that citizenship, he was allowed to run for election for president. That's what really happened.
Yet, these socialst Democrats actually believe that if they retroactively recind Hitler's citizenship, then their town won't be known as the one who gave him citizenship. Is this Orwell's 1984, or what? Just because they want something to NOT have happened 75 years ago, they can simply pass a law and it will actually not have happened? What's even scarier is I bet they can get the textbooks rewritten to show that Hitler never was a citizen. I can see historians in 25 years trying to figure out how Hitler even got elected -- since he wasn't even a citizen!
Then again, in 25 years, no one may know who Hitler was since some countries are already denying his existence.

I worked with a nurse who was raised in Germany. In her education over there in the 1960's they never even mentioned Hitler's name as German. The Holocaust didn't happen. Hitler was a real person, just not the bad person he really was. I guess they have changed all this now...and they do teach history as it happened. BUT it sounds like this town lives in the reality based community. They should not feel shame here- fact is fact and history can be learned from. Good can come from it as long the right lesson is learned.

You don't have to rewrite history to silence it. Silencing is much easier and seems quite popular.
Have you ever seen, "Das Schreckliche Maedchen" (English, "Nasty Girl."
Great movie which really hits on an important theme, if you can handle subtitles. I'm lucky...I can just listen to the German and ignore the English. ; )
But you really should watch it. She isn't "nasty" for what we Amis would think someone nasty. She's "nasty" for digging up the past of her community.

Raven, I'm not sure they teach history there. This town wants to change it just in case someone else finds out about it. It's amazing that they can just think that by changing something now, it will somehow affect what happened in the past.
Dana, never heard of it. I'd have to read the subtitles. I may have to try and find that one, thanks for the tip.

Banned in China?
Want to know if your site has been ruled "unacceptable" by the Communist Chinese government? Head over to
Great Firewall of China and check. Alas, either I'm not offensive enough, or I'm just too insignificant to have been banned by those freedom-hating government agents. But I couldn't help but notice both

Post your link on a couple of their sites and you'll get banned or spammed real quick. If it's spammed, start blocking their ips from your site and eventually you'll be like the rest of us. As I said, eventually, we'll have the whole IP range for China blocked (spammers and hackers) so it doesn't matter to me that they blocked us, lol... even if we weren't they still wouldn't see our sites. NC State Wants Cash
NC State
has announced that they need $2 million of taxpayer money. Why (this time)? Because they want to start businesses. That's right, businesses. Those That Know Better Than You (Democrats and Educrats) now need more of your money to tell other people how to run their own businesses. I wonder if they'll use the 100-year history of the Democrat-run NC Government as a model.
Maybe they should ask the businesses that are already spending tens of millions of dollars on government -- instead of buying politicians and votes, maybe they could spend their money on creating businesses. They're spending more than the politicians even want.
Gee, but if they did that, then the Democrats in Raleigh and the education bureaucracy wouldn't have power and control over that money. That simply cannot be. Keep that in mind when the Democrats cry about a tax increase later this year and they insist it's "for the children." Those very same legislators have received over FOURTEEN MILLION from lobbyists and aren't willing to give any of that money "for the children" -- they'll only give YOUR money.
