Government A:Vote as you are told, or you or your family will be tortured or killed.
Government B:Vote as you are told, or you will be fined -- and if you refuse to pay the fine, you will be killed.
So, which one do you like? Which would you like to live under? Both governments are clearly a "Democracy," right? After all, both governments have people voting to make decisions. In fact, in government A, you're required to vote. Government B allows you the option to not vote if you'd like. But both governments claim to the world that they are "Democracies" because the people get to vote.
Do you see any difference between the two governments? Did you notice who gets to make the decisions in each? In both cases, it is government that's making the decisions while the people have zero power. In both cases, if the "people" do not do what the government wants, they may be killed. So what IS the difference between the two? I honestly don't know. They look the same to me.
Oh, and which governments are they? Government A is Saddam Hussein's brutal rein of terror where tens of thousands were killed for disagreeing with him. Government B is the City of Charlotte.
