Terrorist Appeasement
Well that sure didn't take long (hat tip to Tomslick).
Dozens of masked Hamas gunmen took over Gaza City's central square on Saturday and announced they would not stop attacks on Israel, despite Israel's ongoing withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
So let's see...Sharon forcibly removed Jewish people from an area of land where they had been living for decades and gave that land to terrorists, in the hopes that the terrorists would then stop blowing up innocent people in Israel.
The response from the terrorists is exactly as I expected, but hoped it would not be: The terrorists are claiming victory and have renewed strength for more attacks, vowing to not stop until all of Israel and all Jewish people are destroyed.
Folks, terrorists are NOT reasonable people. They CANNOT be "talked to" and reasoned with. They want you dead, period.

I think too many people get confused between appeasment and peace. I just noticed over at My Pet Jawa, a great quote. It says, "Tolerance is a crime when it applies to evil." Couldn't say it any better than that.

Flame-Point Siamese

This is often referred to as a "flame-point" Siamese cat. I have heard that term used often, and I have owed a couple that people, including Humane Societies, have called flame-point Siamese. I really like the Siamese temperament and usually the colors (but not the really skinny ones, ewe).
However, there really is no such breed. According to the Cat Fanciers' Association, the coloring of a Siamese should not be that way, and it's really a mix of different breeds.
Well that's fine, because I always get my pets from the shelters and the human societies (and Cat Houses), so I don't really care they're official, I just like them.
I just thought you might like to know.

Don't let them disrespect your cat Ogre. My limited experiences have show me that the fussy "offical" animal groups will disparage your animal up to and including it being an actual "breed". They seem to forget that all the breeds are a result of selective breeding, so I don't see what right they have to sneer at an attractive animal that breeds true.

Yeah, I get all mine from shelters anyway, so it doesn't really matter what they want to call it, it's still pretty cool. The yellowish one I have now chases the dogs all over the neigborhood.

We have a half Siamese, half six toed cat ... probably the product of six generations of inbreeding!
Awesome personality, and he truly "walks thru walls" Although he comes inside, nobody's seen him go outside for six months.
Weren't Siamese cats developed in Thailand to be Temple Guards ... to keep evil spirits away from the departed ... ?

Definately loyal. The last siamese I had would wake up 5 minutes before I got home from work (after sleeping all day, of course), and greet me at the door -- and I didn't feed him, he just showed up to greet me, then went back to sleep!
And Caren, I think I had heard something about that. Of course my memories could be tainted by Hollywood and movies like The Mummy...

the 6-toed cat is a Polydactyl (google it). My wife and I got a polydactyl on July 5th. It has 7 toes on the front paws and 5 on the back (the vet said cats are only supposed to have 4 on the back.)
People breed polydactyls because they are supposed to have a good temperament. Ours is a little terror though.
What kind of temperament are siamese cats supposed to have?
Posted by: Echo Zoe at August 22, 2005 11:20 AM (K+h36)
13
I've heard of those extra-toed cats, but I'd never seen one! Maybe next time I come visit...

Siamese are renowned for their loud voices, aloofness (more than most), and intense loyalty. Most have very loud "meows," but when they select an owner, they are extremely loyal and friendly, some even becoming protective. They can be very agressive cats, but not to their own.
Every one I've had has been an excellent mouser and every one has caught birds. New animals are a little trouble to add to a house with a Siamese, unless the new animal accepts it's role as inferior to the Siamese.
I love 'em, but the official breed is a little too skinny for me -- I like 'em with a little meat on 'em.

We had a polydactyl cat (not a siamese) when I was a child. Fantastic cat. Behaved like a dog in a lot of ways: came when called, knew his name, went jogging with my father.
He was also really laid back. Whenever we came home after school he'd be there to meet us, and would roll over on his back for tummy rubs.
I have two siamese, and pretty much ignore what cat breeders say about "correct" breeds. Siamese color patterns are the result of a heat sensitive mutation, and can be bred into any cat.
And breeders tend to want to do the nuttiest things. Burmese cats (my mom was a fan) used to be compact elegant little cats that looked like dark siamese with golden eyes. Now they look like retarded boston terriers, with pug noses and bizarre round eyes.
Siamese also now look like bat-eared, skinny freaks. Like Mr. Bigglesworth with fur. They've been bred to an extreme, and I hear that there are starting to be really bad health problems in "purebred" siamese: They don't live as long, they catch diseases more easily and they get eye infections a lot.
Breeding is really just animal eugenics.
Posted by: Jonathan at August 26, 2005 06:18 PM (BtgUe)
15
I didn't know the patterns were a result of heat! And I completely agree with the "purebred" ideas -- I've never known ANYONE who's had a purebred that hasn't had major health problems.
The Siamese do look really bad so skinny, if you ask me. I like the Siamese personality, and their coloring, and their short hair -- but NOT the current trend of skininess!

Hi Ogre,
About the heat thing....actually siamese darken depending on the climate...the colder the climate the darker the points become ...as well, the older the cat the darker the points will become. A flame point just adopted me...came to my house in the middle of the night and screamed until I let him in. Beaten up and skinny...obviously has a sixth sense to know what door was his saving grace. He's a beauty. My second siamese although flame points are not considered purebreds ...but who cares?! He's what I'd consider a traditional siamese - more robust and appleheaded. This is what the original ideal was when they first were registered by cat fanciers. Therefore, to me, he's genuine!
Posted by: Maria at September 09, 2005 10:27 PM (OOckL)
18
I agree on the applehead part -- I really can't stand the really skinny ones.
I hadn't noticed a darkening in the climate. The one I own seems to do the opposite, but I haven't look that closely -- he seems to get lighter in the winter, when the snow is on the ground, but darker in the summer. I need to take some pictures and compare more closely, I think...

Thanks for the reliable info and links. My owner is very happy to finally know who I am. I am a flame-point siamese mix with more house cat look but the wierd blue eyes, the kitten-like ways, the loud talkative me-ow (a specific one for each of my many needs), and the moarnful cry when ever she's someplace I'm not. I feel less panic attack when she tells me she's OK during her shower. But the safe gaurding the bathroom door and previous near-knocking-myself-silly head butts to get in made her wonder if she had a cat stranger than fiction.

I have a Birman and she doesn't have health problems. She's a big hearty force of nature. Birmans don't seem to be bred to weird extremes, so far. The current Birmans look just like Birmans from 60 years ago, and were probably developed from crossing longhairs (possibly Persians) with Siamese, before either were bred to be bizarre, and now Birmans still look normal. She just looks very beautiful and cute, and has a wonderful friendly playful quirky personality, very loyal and companionable, like a Siamese but with a quiet voice and just a bit less active. And she has super-gorgeous semi-long hair that needs no combing, unlike fancy longhairs that can't maintain their own coats. Coolest cat I've ever lived with. I just adopted a new kitten and I deliberately went for a Siamese mix from a shelter, in order to find a kitty like an old fashioned Siamese. Apparently there is enough demand for healthy, old style Siamese among cat lovers that there are now many breeders breeding them instead of the modern scrawny ones. They can't "show" them in the major circuits since they don't meet the modern standards, but they are what cat lovers want.
IIRC, some cat associations accept flamepoints. Some associations only accept a few "traditional" colors for colorpoint cats, while others accept "new" colors like flame point that had to be crossbred to other breeds to achieve. It is the same situation with Birmans. Not that it's important or anything!

Neat! I haven't heard of Birmans before. I think as long as they're not strictly bred, they will be great -- it's the purebred breeding that really kills them health-wise!

You Don't Speak For Me Cindy
In case you're wondering if the recent developments in the Cindy I'm-a-tool Sheehan's situation have changed the plans of others (because the world does revolve around her, according to the FMSM and her), please note that they have not:
"We are sorry to learn of the illness facing Cindy Sheehan's mother. Sheehan's spokeswoman has indicated Cindy plans to return to Crawford, Texas in the next 24 to 48 hours. Whether or not she returns, the "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" Tour will continue as originally planned. The issue here is the fact that the servicemembers and their families have not had their voices heard during the past weeks of Ms. Sheehan's vigil. They support the troops AND the mission they are serving in. We are going to bring that voice to Crawford, Texas - and we invite people from around the nation to join our caravan and meet us for the super rally in Crawford, Texas on Saturday, August 27th."
Signed,

Cindy doesn't speak for the majority of Americans any more than the Sunni's speak for the majority of Iraq citizens. They are getting a new chance to live free, even the Sunni's, and they deserve our support. The Sunni's shouldn't be able to upset everything for the majority.

Statesmen in North Carolina?
No, sorry to get your hopes up with that title. I'd like to use
this article to point out that we are, in fact, a representative republic, and NOT a democracy -- at least we're not supposed to be.
The article (and others) favorably mention a poll that shows 61% of the people in the state want the North Carolina Legislature to continue to take money from individuals and give them to big businesses (so-called "economic incentives"). Of course, the poll was done by "North Carolina Economic Developers Association," so the results are certainly very questionable.
This is where statesmen should step in. Real statesmen, elected officials who are true to their job and understand how a representative republic is supposed to work, would reply with statements about how it is not the job of government to steal from one person to give to companies.
One opponent of the measures brought up the fact that he employs several people and pays taxes, but he doesn't get $4 million for "incentives" -- a very valid point. One problem with incentives is that the government gets to decide which companies they support and which ones they do not. That is NOT a free market.
However, some will respond, "the majority of the people want it, so we're going to do it." That is just plain wrong. I'll go ahead and use Rush Limbaugh's example that I heard many years ago -- if Democracy truly is just the majority decision, if there's 4 men and 1 woman in a room and 3 men want to rape the woman, that's okay, because it was a majority decision.
What we need today to fix this country are statesmen -- people who will do the right thing, no matter which way the wind is blowing. We need people who will stand up and tell people that they support the Constitution, no matter what polls say, no matter what the "majority" say, and no matter what anyone else says.
Anyone know any statesmen we can elect so we can have our country back?

Hanoi Jane's Brother
I'm sure many of you remember Hanoi Jane, supporting the enemy during wartime. Of course, it was really just a "police action," I know. But you remember how hard she worked for communists to try and get the US to lose the war, while still living and taking money from people in the US. It seems her long-lost brother has surfaced in England.
To let you know how insidious and deceitful Islam can be, just look at this fellow. Muhammad (so he claims) went to England in 1994 claiming political asylum from persecution in Saudi Arabia. England let him stay because he claimed he could be killed if he were sent back to Saudi Arabia. So how does he repay England?
By running a web site and broadcasting on the open airwaves that all British troops should be killed. If that's not sedition, I don't know what is. The British are said to be considering talking with him and deporting him.
Now I'm all for free speech, and I can see where you have to be very careful in crossing that line of what's permitted -- but actively promoting and encouraging murder of troops? Not just being an ass and making protest signs while collecting welfare checks, but actively telling people to assassinate British troops.
If he is going to be killed or jailed if he's sent back to Saudi Arabia, I'll help collect the funds for his plane flight back.

ACLU says YOU are a terrorist.
"[Anyone who prays] believe[s] that they answer to a higher power, in my opinion. Which is the kind of thinking that you had with the people who flew the airplanes into the buildings in this country, and the people who did the kind of things in London."
The first part of that quote is just stupid -- yes, of course someone who prays believes in a higher power. The second part is just outlandish -- if you believe in a higher power, you're a terrorist! How's that for logic? That would include Christians, Jews, Hindus, Wiccans, Earth-Firsters, any anyone who believes in a higher power. I bet you didn't know that everyone, including naturalists, were terrorists, did you?
Well, according to the spokesman for the ACLU in Louisiana, you are. This statement came about while the ACLU was suing a school board in Louisiana for daring to pray at their meetings. Notice, however, that this statement has absolutely NOTHING to do with government or government-sponsored prayer -- lunatic Joe Cook simply made the blanket statement, which supports the ACLU's position, that ANYONE who believes in a higher power is a terrorist.
This is the same ACLU that wants people thrown in jail for saying a prayer at a football game. This is the same group of communists that want people jailed for saying the Lord's Prayer.
The ACLU is NOT American. They do not stand for civil rights. They do NOT stand for liberty. They were started to throw out the representative republic in America and replace it with communism. They are actively hostile towards anything remotely associated with Christianity, because Christianity opposes communism. They support jailing people for saying the Lord's Prayer, but they want to force others to listen to "Wiccan blessings."
Do not support the ACLU, because they hate you, and they might be coming after you next. This was part of the Stop The ACLU Blogburst. If you would like to participate please Register At Our Portal. Muliculturalism Attacks Again
Once again we have a
news story that shows how multiculturalism, besides being just stupid, is physically injuring and killing United States citizens. Last time it was a father of 2 and a schoolteacher killed. This time it was a 15-year old girl who's now in critical condition.
People, we have a problem in this country with illegal immigration, whether you or the politicians want to admit it or not. In the uniquely American society, it is simply not acceptable to get drunk and drive. However, in other cultures, this is seen as a common occurrence, and even encouraged! In particular, the Mexican culture reviles "machoness," and the more you can drink, the more you are "accepted."
We cannot have people coming to this country and bringing their culture with them. Our culture really is better. We need to lockdown our damn borders. I'm with The Gun Toting Liberal on this one: deploy our military to protect our borders! The local police and mayors refuse to fix this problem, it's time for the federal government to actually do one of the few things they are supposed to do!
So what will happen to this illegal immigrant who put a 15-year old innocent girl in the hospital because he was driving drunk? The last guy got probation and put back on the street. In case you're wondering, there were three FATAL DUI cases in that county this year (Brunswick). All THREE were illegal immigrants with previous DUI CONVICTIONS.
Sue Myrick (R-NC member of Congress) has written to the Office of Homeland Security to ask why North Carolina has only 1 officer assigned to deport the estimated 300,000 illegal immigrants in North Carolina. That's a nice start, Ms. Myrick, but that's not enough.
If Sue Myrick wants to be governor of North Carolina, this would be a great way to start -- get us 500 deportation officers and start deporting these criminals -- and start with the damn ones who are already arrested!

North Carolina is third in numbers of illegals in states according to most estimates. There's not as many as CA yet, but we're giving away driver licenses, healthcare, and education as quickly as we can to apparently attract as many more as we can get.

Hundreds Cheer Wasteful Spending
In Charlotte yesterday, hundreds of people, many at the request of their uptown employers,
cheered and supported spending less money on police and law enforcement, supported unlimited higher taxes, and celebrated potentially spending even more taxpayer money to directly benefit private business.
At issue here is giving over $100 million in taxpayer funds to a private business so that the private business may profit. The rally was held "uptown," where many businesses who also live off the taxpayer dole gave employees time off to show up and appear to celebrate and support this utterly irresponsible and wasteful spending.
In this case, it was support for SPENDING for the "Nascar Hall of Fame." As the left normally does, they confused support for Nascar with support for wasteful spending and higher taxes -- so they managed to convince a lot of people to support the Hall of Fame -- without realizing they were also supporting higher taxes to pay for the damn thing.
Once again, the left shows their desire to buy toys without having to actually work for them -- instead they take money from working people to build their own playgrounds. It's wrong, plain and simple. Government does not exist to buy things for private businesses, and it's wrong any time government gives money to a private business.
If this Hall of Fame is such a wonderful idea, and such a huge money-maker, why won't business build it for themselves and make money? Because it's NOT a money-maker, and government has become much to willing to just give away tax dollars to anyone who asks.
This is today's Democrat Party values: steal from the poor and give to the rich.

Figures. Everyone knows that those Hall of Fames barely scrape by. People go at first, but they are a novelty. That is why businesses who support Nascar and in fact, Nascar itself didn't want to pay to put it up by themselves. Why pay when you can open up a bidding war and let someone else pay? I know why they cheer though, they figure people will come to Charlotte and spend their money when they visit. I have little sympathy for the majority of the taxpayers of Charlotte though, they keep voting these idiots into office afterall!

That's just one of many reasons why I, and many others, are fleeing Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. The primary reason the area still isn't bankrupt is because new people continue to move in the area. The majority of people that live in Charlotte have not lived there for more than 5 years -- those who stay that long typically run away -- and the Charlotte politicians HATE us for it.

ogre, the left could care less about nascar. Hate to be the one to break the news to you. To hear the right, that's exactly what't the matter with us. While decent Americans are watching the race, drinking budweiser and smoking meth, us liberals are reading the NewYork Times. Smell the coffee. Conservitives of the 21st century are all for pork. You took the liberal game plan and made it your own. Thank you for coming over to the dark side.

Clark, thank you for making my point for me!
Indeed, the left DOESN'T care about Nascar -- they only care about taking money from people and giving it to other people. They don't care if it's the Nascar Hall of Fame or the National Basket Weaving Speed-Championships. They just want taxpayer money to spend.
You can't even associate any of this particular spending with conservatives because there's no conservatives who are voting for this $100 million in wasteful spending -- the Charlotte City Council that votes for this is all liberal Democrats.

Jeanine Pirro for Senate
There are apparently some challengers for Hillary (D-anystate) Clinton for election to the US Senate for New York. Everyone knows how many Democrats live in New York (except Hillary, she's from Arkansas), so I'm not sure any Republican has a chance. However,
Jeanine Pirro has tossed her hat in the ring.
Now she doesn't have a blog, so that's one strike against her
However, The Alliance noticed that she didn't have a slogan for her campaign on her website and was wondering if we could help her out. Well of course!
So here's the top 10 suggestions from Ogre's Politics and Views for campaign slogans for Jeanine Pirro 2006 for US Senate:
#10: Vote Pirro -- She's not Hillary!
#9: Let's have a Senator for New York that's from New York.
#8: Pirro -- because she won't hang condoms on a Christmas Tree and call it wonderful.
#7: Pirro -- the New York Senator who will serve 6 years, not 2.
#6: Pirro: the only candidate in the race who's husband hasn't been disbarred.
#5: Vote Pirro -- She's not running for President!
#4: Pirro: A true moderate for all moderate New Yorkers.
#3: Vote Pirro -- the candidate that can tell when her husband is telling lies to her and the whole damn country.
#2: Pirro: because her husband won't be trying to hog the news cameras during every news conference.
And finally, the #1 campaign slogan for Jeanine Pirro:
#1: Vote Pirro: Do you really want to vote for Hillary again?

Marine Student Fined For Being Marine
Nice story out of Texas today. It seems a Marine was told he had to pay a fine for being in the Marines. He was
denied in-state tuition from a community college because he had spent years in Iraq. He has current and active bank accounts in Texas; a voter registration, and a TX driver's license -- but no in-state tuition, so the Community College doesn't consider him a resident.
Here's a tip for you, Carl Basham: tell them you're from Mexico. If that doesn't work, you're free to come to North Carolina and tell the community college here you're from Mexico -- that gets you "in-state" tuition rates in this state.

Disgusting! Here in PA, if you are active in the Military, you don't pay state taxes (you do in other highly military states like VA). Anyway, If he paid taxes in Texas, doesn't that count? Also, does that mean he is a resident of Iraq?

How ridiculous!
I don't get it. As a military dependent, I have been able to move to other states and as long as there were proof of orders, I was able to get instate tuition.
He should get to go to a community college for free in my opinion.

A few things, Texas does not have any State income taxes, just sales taxes, property taxes, sin taxes, lottery taxes (oops, that's another issue), so there are no records there, but it DOES show he filed his FEDERAL taxes as a Texan for the last few years even tough he was either in Iraq or stationed in other states.
Second, he DID enlist in the USMC while in Louisianna (his parents moved there and he had to finish high school there, but that was at least 6 if not 8 years ago now). Personally, Sissy, I'm with you in a way. In one sense you CAN go to a community college free as a veteran, because you have the Montgomery GI bill and in Texas (which this veteran SHOULD receive) the Hazlewood act (which pays either 2 or 4 more semesters in full once the GI bill runs out). My thoughts are these, if you are a veteran, once DISCHARGED (other than dis-honorably), you should be able to go to ANY state to begin your education and be GUARANTEED in-state tuition, only once you've chosen that state and started school could the other 49 states charge you more. Trust me, we have the state comptroller and a few state representatives battling for Cpl Basham, I won't be surprised if he doesn't have a healthy grant or scholarship when this is over. (BTW - Ogre - Sorry for the long comment)

Right, Smokey.
In fact, when you're in the military, you can quite literally claim ANY state as your home state. You will then pay taxes in that state (if any). You can get a car registration, bank accounts, etc., just by claiming that state as your home state.
This is nothing more than an educational institution trying to get a load of cash out of someone, nothing more.

Education Responsibility
This week's
Christian Views Symposium is a doosy. There's a letter written by
Jeff of
Random Acts of Kindness that says in part:
It is fundamentally unfair to rely on other peopleÂ’s money to pay for a childÂ’s education. The primary source of funding should come from the parents who have children using the service. If we canÂ’t ask parents to help pay for their childrenÂ’s education, how in the world can we expect other people without children to pay even more for it?
That's quite a "radical" position to take in today's socialist mindset. I'm sure that many of my good readers are already discounting this entire post, or hoping that I will point out how radical or looney this person is. After all, isn't school "for the children?"
Lennie asks some questions about that letter this week:
1. What is responsibility of the Parent in paying for their childÂ’s education?
2. What is responsibility of the Society in paying for all childrens education?
3. Do you believe your perspective is different if you are a Christian?

I think the total burden for a child's education should be on the parent. I didn't choose to have them, why should I pay for someone else's choice to?

I agree. I don't understand the mentality says that others should be forced to pay for something that you want for your children.

Pfizer Products Suck
I noticed the news in a couple of places now that the city of New London not only wants to take land from one private citizen and give it to another (and has the blessing of the US Supreme Court via Kelo vs. New London), but now they want the people whose land they are taking to pay rent!
Yes, not only will they screw you, but if you DARE to fight city hall, not only will you lose, but you will pay a cash FINE for attempting to resist them! I'm quite sure the next step, if it hasn't already been taken, will be for the city to sue the homeowners for legal fees, too!
Once again, this is far beyond wrong. If I own property, I own it. Anyone who wants it from me can try and take it, but you're not getting it while I still live. THAT's the spirit of this country. FREEDOM is what this country is all about. But more and more unelected royalty and even elected corrupt officials do not like freedom and individuals, so they try and destroy them.
Grau, over at Frizzen Sparks, has an idea -- boycott Pfizer products. Why Pfizer? Because that's the company that is going to be given these private citizens' land.
He's posted a list of all Pfizer products. He's also posted Pfizer's contact information in case you want to write them a letter. He suggests using not using "you f-ing roach felching bastards" in your letter.
I say again, "Where is my country?"

I'm skimmed through this, and Grau's post. Is it true that they are offering far less than the properties are worth?
In the U.K, houses can be purchased if developers need to build a road, but they always offer a certain percent *more* than the market value.

I'd do it, but I need my neosporin, it is the secret to my good health! That and I don't blame the company, I blame the city government and the judges for this mess.
Posted by: Contagion at August 17, 2005 05:38 PM (M8Swz)
6
Oh no, they NEVER give market value here. When the city takes land, they only pay for it when they HAVE to. In most cases, at least here in North Carolina, they first order the property condemned, which immediately reduces the actual value of the house by about 50%. Then the government "offers" less.
Posted by: Ogre at August 17, 2005 05:38 PM (L0IGK)
7
And Contagion, I still blame the company, because they are the ones who started this whole thing -- if the company hadn't demanded some waterfront property for their company building, none of this would have happened.

Wha? Is that a State or Federal law? That can't be right.
Posted by: Sally at August 17, 2005 06:15 PM (Ah7G0)
9
Pfft. Laws are only useful to those who pass them here. So it's a state thing -- the state condemns the property, and then you're really forced to sell it, because they won't let you live in it -- it's condemned! Once upon a time, many decades ago, we had this thing called the 4th Amendment. We don't have that any more.

Blame Bush
An actual conversation this morning between the Ogre and the toothless gas station attendant:
TW (Toothless Wonder): That'll be $43.72.
Ogre (while handing credit card): Whew, that's quite a bit, huh?
TW (while taking said credit card): You're using the gold card, right?
Ogre: Not much longer with prices like these!
TW: It's Bush's fault.
Ogre:
TW: You know, if we'd just get out of there, it would be back to normal.
Ogre:
TW: My Mom's gas prices never went down -- we'll be up to $2.75 before Friday.
Ogre: How... Did you say this is Bush's fault?
TW: Oh yes, that whole mess is just about oil -- you know, the rich get richer, we poor get poorer.
Ogre:
TW: I think we'll be over $3.00 real soon.
Ogre: If it's about oil then why...
TW: Oh, I don't know, I don't keep up with all that stuff.
Ogre:
TW: Thank you, come again.
Ogre:
I can only hope that such an incredibly ignorant fool that either refuses to learn or is incapable of learning doesn't actually have the brainpower to figure out how to vote.

I have noticed an up-tick in the "bush is responsible for gas prices" meme as of late on the lefty blogs and from lefties on chat boards. But not one can tell us exactly why it is Bush's fault, nor can they offer any solution, even a minor, or insane one. Of course, Afghanistan was all about oil, too.
However, I do know for a fact that we are taking the Iraqi oil, shipping it to Texas, moving it to Area 51, and selling it to the aliens. In exchange, the aliens are screwing with lefty brains. They were doing the anal probe thing, but the lefties like it, so it was no fun for the aliens.

My question, and it doesn't really do much to ask it (see response in original post), is "If we went to war for oil, why in the heck does it cost MORE?"
If it's just because Bush wants the money for his buddies, why did we go to war? They could have just raised the damn prices without a war!
But there's no way for these people to see reality. They'd deny their own mother if it furthered their Bush-hating goals.

Now hold on, Jo -- that pimple thing might have some merit. I've heard there's classified reports that Bush DID order the CIA and FBI to start injecting people with drugs at night to get them addicted to drugs so Bush can keep the contras and other drug suppliers with products so they can siphon off some cash of the illegal drug trade to corporations in Colorado that Cheney owns and operates under a pseudonym...

New Word Usage Fines
It seems the theme of lunatic judges continues here. A judge
just ruled that calling someone "Farm Boy" will cost you $500 and 30 days in jail. Well, if you are white and the person you're calling "Farm Boy" is black, that is.
This is just damn insane. This is just total lunacy, plain and simple. There is no way anyone is going to convince me that a 30-day sentence in jail is justified for WORDS. This is just plain wrong. Where in the world is my country?
In this case, the judge ruled that, despite the black construction worker calling the white construction worker "Snoopy," that when the white construction worker called the black construction worker "Boy" and "Farm Boy," that is was suddenly a so-called "hate crime" and was offensive and this new fangled BS thought crime called "ethnic intimidation."
The assanine lottery-lawsuit driven black construction worker was SO intimidated over being called "Farm Boy" that he quit his job and sought psychiatric help! He couldn't sleep at night because someone who HE called a name called him "Boy!"
Crap like this really makes me want to start hitting people with 2x4s really hard -- starting with the moron who claims he is a judge. No word yet on when the mentally incompetent black construction worker will file his lottery lawsuit against the construction company so he can try and get some cash.

Email is way up in the upper right corner, to the right of the American Flag.
As for the New Blog Showcase, it's as simple or difficult as you want to make it! The entries get emailed to a central email address. When you're ready to make your post, you just head to the email address and see all the entries.
You can post simple links to the entries, or you can play around with it and add an entire commentary on each site (as I just did). It really is pretty easy!

Bou's Boys
Boudicca, of
Boudicca's Voice is looking for a new car. However, she says that she needs something "family size" that will get "30 mpg." She had pretty much given up hope.
Then tony (in comments to my 250 mpg Automobiles post) said that she should consider VW's Passat -- 1.8L turbo-4 version with a MANUAL tranny, of course. I went to their web site, and you cannot get a 2006 Passat with a 1.8L engine, the smallest is a 2.0L. Strangely enough, the automatic transmission is an option for $1,075 (yay!). So, Bou's going to have to look for previous model year Passat to get the 1.8L (or drop one in herself, I suppose).
However, she's still worried that the vehicle will not be large enough for "3 soon to be grown boys in the back." Bou, boys can fit lots of places:

It seems there was a
kidnapping in the Blogosphere. One
Nick Queen kidnapped
Harvey. The initial demands were relatively weak, but they were quickly
refused.
Then the real fighting started. The kidnapping quickly escalated in a real battle. There's even rumors of viking kittens being brought to bear.
Some people have come out in support for Nick Queen. Others have denounced Nick as a terrorist blogger. There's even rumors of a possible rescue attempt in the works.
The sides appear to be drawn. Being an Ogre, I can quickly pledge my allegiance -- to the highest bidder, of course! It has already been revealed that Nick Queen is flush with links, so he appears to have more links in hand, ready to sell. Harvey, on the other hand, has a really big cool tank on his side.
