Fair Taxes
Fair Tax Blogburst, by Terry Dillard:
With this heated election approaching faster than one could imagine, we thought it would be a time to throw the FT BB into the debates to see where each of our respective candidates reside in these matters.
We have grown fast and have expanded further than Terry and I anticipated in such a short time, which should prove to be interesting as we will hopefully see. Since we have members of numerous states, and numerous districts of the House of Representatives, let us see where the incumbents and their challengers reside when it comes to the Fair Tax.

Stop the ACLU
Crossposted from
Stop The ACLU:
Liberals always act shocked and astonished that conservatives believe that an organization claiming to be the guardian of religious liberty is actually is actually America's number one religious censor. They will spout off token cases where the ACLU veered from its normal path of hostility toward Christian religious expression to defend free speech. They have a handful of cases they try to convince us with. However, the ACLU's history can easily be looked at and the cases against religious expression far outweigh these token cases. If the ACLU were consistent in its positions on religious liberty despite the religion their defense on the issue would be much easier. However, many cases point out that it isn't religion in general the ACLU fight, but the Christian religion in particular.

a lot of people have said, "if one man had had the courage to kill hitler early on, there never would have been a holocaust." We get no help from the government, are we prepared to not just pray but take up arms in defense of our country?

Are we prepared to take up arms? You can be sure that the government knows that many of us are heavily armed. Therefore, they will NOT give us a target.

Democrat Candidate Lies
Rep. William Delahunt (D-MA). Do you know him? Do you know of him? According to
Kit Jarrell, he's
a liar. But I did already say he's an elected official, so you really already knew that, didn't you?
Oh, and he's using the fraudulent information to appear on the ballot as a veteran. Sure, Democrats respect our military veterans...as long as it will get them money and/or power.
A politician lies and says anything to get elected or to get money to spend. A stateman says the truth, no matter who will be "offended" or what the result will be. We need statesmen, NOT politicians.

Have heard anything about the Patty Wetterling Congressional race in Minnesota's 6th District? She has had one of the dirtiest races I've ever seen, including having one of her paid compaign staff volunteer for her opponant's campaign to gain inside knowledge.
Her son was abducted back in the late 80's, and would be about my age if he is still alive, so she has been well known in Minnesota for almost 20 years. She's done good for child advocacy, but is one of the dirtiest politician wanna-be's.

Wetterling? Not a word. If it's dirty tricks and they're being done by a Democrat, I don't expect to hear about it in any media.

Mr. Ogre - this is my congressman. I suppose after Gerry Studds, the gay congressman who raped the page, anybody looked prety good. He's held the seat since 1996 when Studds resigned.
My two favorite moments from his debate last Thursday:
He has two opponents, a Republican named Jeff Beatty and a Green named Peter White who chided Bill Delahunt about missing intelligence briefings. He called him 'misinformed'. Peter then leaned into the mike and said, 'It's on the front page of the Boston Globe!' Delahunt lost it a little, did a Bill Clinton, wagged his finger at the audience and snarled 'Don't believe everything you read in the BOSTON GLOBE!'. I began to clap, and half the audience joined in, until thye realized what they were applauding...
My SECOND favorite moment - when a really rattled Bill Delahunt was doing his grand wrap-up, he intoned, "I'd like to share a quote from that distinguished author Alexis deToqueville, from 1980..." The audience murmur alerted him to his error, and he said, "I meant 1880."
He then read a quote from 'Amercia and the Amercans, published in 1835.
Another pretender, looking up a quote without EVER cracking the cover on a book!

Vote Jim Puckett -- Priceless!
If you live in Mecklenburg county, feel free to vote early and often. You can vote now without providing any identification, and you can vote any day you like with the "early voting." Feel free to vote more than once if you like, no one will stop you. Oh, and if you're not registered, don't let that stop you, because you can vote without even being registered, thanks to the North Carolina voting laws -- seriously.
If you do choose to vote one or more times, you can vote for Jim Puckett. He's a good guy, seriously. I know him and he's a real straight shooter. His latest ad on YouTube (at least until it's deemed "offensive" by the ultra-liberals at Google) can be found here. It's a play on MasterCard's "priceless" ads, and it's a good one -- oh, and it's compeltely factual, showing liberals for what they truly are: "I make no apology for raising taxes."

Democrats Dream for Education
Have you seen the
recent happenings in Germany related to education? Oh, the left in America would absolutely LOVE this to happen here. Seriously. I'm not trying to be funny or exaggerate at all:
On Friday 20 October 2006 at around 7:30 a.m. the children of a home educating family Â… were brought under duress to school by police
In America, this is the dream of the educational establishment. Homeschooling is the enemy of the state in this country. Homeschoolers are actually educated, which is dangerous to any society that relies on keeping it's constituents dumb, which the left and the Democrats need to survive.
Of course, remember, the education establishment in America is also honestly NOT interested in education. Their primary purpose is to spend money and secure teacher jobs (to be paid with MORE government money). In case you didn't know, the amount of money given to all government (public) schools in America depends DIRECTLY upon how many students attend. Therefore, the more students you have at your school, the more money you get. Homeschoolers are the enemy to the state.
Go ahead and elect Democrats and watch them crush this enemy, too.

They've already tried in California. They wanted to require teaching certificates for parents to homeschool.
Texas is very homeschool friendly. Our local park has different groups of homeschool families populating it several times a week. They have groups which allow for what the left likes to use against them; socialization!
IMHO, they are the hope for our future in America.

"Homeschooling is the enemy of the state in this country."
I would say in EVERY country. State school systems have as their first, overriding goal the inculcation of an attitude of submission to the state. Homeschoolers don't get that course in servility, in consequence of which they're psychologically better prepared to resist intrusions on their liberty.
(By the way, why does your comment system's anti-bot filter object to a dot-info domain address?)

Dagney, I'd insist they may be the only hope for America left. Have you seen what is taught in the public schools these days? I HONESTLY cannot tell. I have been talking to high school graduates, and I cannot find ANYTHING they know that the average 8-year old knows. They don't know taxes, percents, fractions, anything about the American Revolution, anything about government, the difference between a verb and an adverb -- seriously.
And Francis, I agree with one qualifier -- every country that's not free. If a country were truly free, this would not be an issue!
As for the dot.info, I don't know, I'll check into that one. Thanks for stopping along!

In NC, Unions support Socialism
In North Carolina, the Socialist Unions who absolutely despise freedom are throwing around a lot of money
to elect Democrats, at least according to the news report. However, that's not quite accurate. You see, Democrats have already gerrymandered the state to the point where it is absolutely impossible (barring a major event, like a civil war) for the Republicans to win. Everyone knows that, even the unions. So why would they be spending lots of money?
Because they're trying to buy votes. They know the Democrats will win in the state, so they are currently making a push to buy things like higher minimum wages and easier access to stupid workers.
If we had freedom, these unions wouldn't be able to lobby and give tons of cash to the state. Know where that money comes from? The state. The majority of union members in North Carolina WORK FOR THE STATE. So they're taking their money and using it to lobby the state for more government and more money. In a free republic, the government would be the absolute SMALLEST employer in the state, not the largest. Instead, we have a self-propagating system where they work for the state and take their money to bribe politicians to give them more money so they can give more money to the politicians.
Oh, how I yearn for freedom.

If you ever have the oppty to read the history of unions you will see that many were based on Communist Worker Models, where the state or gov't is the great protector, so of course they would do anything to perpetuate their blotted existence. The socialist version we have in the US is just that a slightly more palatable one, but the Communist Party a few years back made it their mission to infiltrate members as "union organizers" so they can spew their propaganda and hold corporations hostage with their demands.
For an example of this we need only look at the city of Detroit. They have had the largest number of home foreclosures every quarter for the past 2 years. People have been unemployed for longer than that, unemployment benefits continue to be extended for their citizens, yet no one AND I MEAN NO ONE, is willling to honestly look at the root causes or bite the bullet.
Nope they rather wait for the city to go to hell and then get Federal pork and subsidies from our respective pockets. Don't get me started!
Tarnation! & I was in such a good mood too!

I apologize, Ogre. I really do...for my brother that is! He's a government union leader in AFSME in Iowa...if I remember the acronym correctly.
Donks knew years back that they had to keep control of the government, which is why they instituted government unions. It's most of the reason we have so many "leaks" from State, Defense, Justice, et al! We will be years undoing their damage...if we can hold on to the House and Senate, which I believe we will do!
Needless to say, my brother and I have some interesting conversations...when we talk, which is not often.

Dagney, you should ask him if he's aware that his dues are being used for the legal fees of an elected official that's already been found guilty of violating the law and is still under various different federal investigations for further violations of the law...of course, since he's union, I'm sure that doesn't matter...
Sorry, Michele. I'm just amazed that so many people can support unions because they don't know their purpose. The primary purpose of a union is to stifle competition -- which causes prices to rise for everyone! And Detriot is still there? Geez, I thought they'd have closed down by now. Oh, right, the federal government will prop them up forever.

Bush continues to Support Illegals
Regular readers here know that we have been closely following the case where two border patrol agents have been arrested, tried, and now sentenced for TRYING TO ENFORCE THE BORDER. We have asked that Bush pardon the agents and have suggested that if he did, there would be a HUGE wave of Republican support for the election this year.
Now it can be reported that Bush has absolutely no intention to pardon those agents and he apparently strongly supports their arrest and punishment FOR TRYING TO ENFORCE THE BORDER. He says that to even consider pardoning them is "nonsensical."
Unfortunately, there's no one else to turn to in government. If Americans want a southern border, we're going to have to make and support it ourself, because the United States government has ZERO desire for any borders.

It seems that way. I'm feeling more disenchanted than usual with this election coming up. The Republicans could have done some great things with the white house and majority of the house and Senate. And this just seems to stand out as their "accomplishment".
The 2006 Pig Book identifies 9,963 pork projects in the 11 appropriations bills for fiscal 2006, a 29 percent decrease over last yearÂ’s total of 13,997. However, the total cost of these earmarks is a record $29 billion, or 6.2 percent more than last yearÂ’s total of $27.3 billion. The cost of pork has increased by 29 percent since fiscal 2003. CAGW has identified $241 billion of pork since 1991.
“Pork-barrel spending illustrates and contributes to the meltdown of spending restraint in Washington,” CAGW President Tom Schatz said. “Instead of averting an impending fiscal crisis, members of Congress are grabbing the spoils to support their own re-election.”
Until we see term limits, criminalizing lobbying or a strong third party, I don't expect any good news, ever.

You're right, Tomslick. And there's no way the people making piles of cash now will ever pass term limits. I absolutely HATE the concept of term limits, but I think it's the only possible hope left.
And Scrapiron, I'm not sure if you're being your usual sarcastic self or not. The only quote in the post was the word "nonsensical," and that comes from Tony Snow who speaks for Bush.

Republican Judicial Candidates
In case you're in North Carolina and needed to know which judges are Republicans (and not bleeding heart liberals), here's the list for Mecklenburg County:
You need to have these names before going into the voting booth, as they will not have "Republican" by their names (because the Democrats realized that people were voting for Republican judges too much, so they took the party affiliation off the ballot).
The Republican Judicial candidates are:
* Rusty Duke
* Ann Marie Calabria
* Eric Levinson
* Mark Martin
* Kris Bailey
* Donna Stroud
* Richard Boner
* Lisa Bell
* Martha Curran (Clerk of Mecklenburg Superior Court)

Greensboro News: Liberal is Conservative
The Greensboro Paper
weighs in on the Chief Justice election. As you might expect from the vast majority of North Carolina print newspapers, they endorse the Democrat. And in doing so, they expose their strong bias. The editorial actually says
This is a moderate-conservative court, and Parker fits comfortably into its centrist core
After saying a few paragraphs earlier that governor Easley appointed this person. Now I know that Easley actually claims to be conservative, but that's only because if he admitted his actual positions on the issues, he wouldn't win again. Then again, that's the strategy of the Democrat Party in North Carolina. If they actually admit what they stand for (higher and higher taxes, less education, medicine free to everyone except those who work, etc.), they would lose every election held. So they have to lie.
This editorial is more of the same. If you want someone who will actually enforce the laws that are on the books (even though they're written by socialists), then you should vote for Judge Rusty Duke for Chief Justice.

NC Lottery Results
The recently invisible governor of North Carolina (and I'm sure it's not because his buddy and pal, Jim Black, is being investigated by the feds and his pals are getting convicted of crimes)
announced some results of the recent state monopoly on gambling.
“The real lottery winners are our schoolchildren across the state who have greater access to pre-k classes, smaller class size, safe, modern school buildings and college scholarships"
So we taxed the poor and instituted gambling so that children could get:
1. Access to pre-k classes. What does this accomplish? Absolutely zero. Studies have shown again and again that students who receive these government-sponsored pre-k classes do not show ANY increase in knowledge, education, or performance at all. Quite literally, the ONLY thing accomplished by these classes is a government-paid-for babysitting service so the parents can go back to work a year earlier and the taxpayers can foot the bill. Literally.
2. Smaller class size. Once again, there are zero studies that show ANY benefit at all from smaller class sizes. But that doesn't matter because people think that it helps and is better. IT IS NOT. It does not help any with education, performance or testing. Zero increase in actual education. Once again, the ONLY benefit this provides is more employment for teachers and more money spent on buildings to BUILD more classes. No educational benefit AT ALL.
3. Safe, modern school buildings. I'm sure there's more than a few people who might argue about the "safe" part of that one. But yet again, there is NO evidence that ANY type of building increases the learning of students. Just because they are in a freshly painted building, they do not learn more. There are NO measurable increases in education, learning, or knowledge at all based on ANY buildings used. Instead, the only result of this is more government spending to BUILD those buildings.
4. College Scholarships. So the government gives money to students so they can give money to the state to attend school. Seriously. The scholarships are for state schools -- the money paid GOES TO THE STATE. The state gave them the money. What kind of con job is this? If the state didn't give them the money, costs would be LESS because people couldn't afford it. So yes, again, ZERO increase in knowledge, education, or anything -- other than government spending.
So, now Governor Easley has finally admitted the sole and entire purpose for the education system in North Carolina -- to increase government spending. And at that, they are very, very successful. The government-run education system is HONESTLY not interested in "education" in the traditional sense -- they are interested in spending money, and absolutely NOTHING else.
Keep that in mind next time you shuttle your kids off to the "government" education center. They are there ONLY to get the government to spend more money. That's what governor Easley, Democrat, says.

They had the same PR in NY when they brought the lottery into existence. Years later it was discovered that only 15% actually made it into the school system during the first 5 yrs. So the system had to be overhauled to ensure that a large percentage went towards education.
The devil is in the details!
Posted by: michele at October 23, 2006 04:19 PM (FRjNx)

Oh, it's okay, ZERO new money was gained with this system. Sure, they claim it's tons of "new" cash for the schools, but they are outright lying. They ARE using money that would have gone from the general fund, and then using that general fund for other "projects." Not only is there ZERO new money for schools, as you can see above, all the money being spent is on GOVERNMENT, not on education.

So it's not as the liberals say "for the children?"
It's a little shell game they are playing, as Dems are want to do. And, you know, the taxes are going to have to go up to pay for the schools, which is what the lottery was supposed to do.
Posted by: William Teach at October 23, 2006 08:18 PM (IRsCk)

They can call this next tax increase either way. They can say they need MORE for the schools (which always works, because it's for the children (TM)) or they can say it's for "public safety." Which works because it's for fear.
Democrats honestly don't care what reason they give. They just want MORE, period.

start another race war. Racist Julius Chambers said that the members of NC NAACP are not doing enough to ensure that black children get more education than white children and that he's going to work to beat down white children so black children can have more.
Viewing all people by their skin color, he said that it's unfair that all black people are stupid and cannot get jobs, so they have to live in poor areas. He said it's not right that black people choose not to live in suburbs and instead live in the inner city. He said that taxpayers should give carloads of cash to all stupid black people who are too dumb to work.
He continued to complain that "historically black" schools have stupid idiots going to school who cannot pass standardized tests, but it would compensate for their stupidity if the state of North Carolina gave them a lot of money so they wouldn't have to work (beacause they're too dumb to work, anyway). He said it's not the fault of the students or their parents, it's the fault of white people who have money.
Now don't get mad at me -- Racist Julius Chambers is the one who claimed all this, not me. I'm just reporting on what he said (and reading between the lines a little bit). I strongly disagree with him. I think people can succeed and learn regardless of the color of their skin.

Okay, brother... I came here to blast you like you blasted me on my own blog yesterday... but instead, I'm treated to a very interesting and entertaining "report". I actually agree with you to a large extent that black people are not helped in any way by these oppressive speakers (on their - COUGH - behalves) who attempt to paint them all as "victims of society" when the fact is, only SOME of them are. Frankly, many of the black folks of whom this guy (supposedly) speaks on the behalf of are more victims of the "class system" than they are "racism". They are in the same boat as the white people with the same earning power and challenges, and I truly believe most of America - both the white America and the black America - see the truth for what it truly is.
And I truly believe that most black people would agree with both of us - that lazy black people should NEVER be rewarded with "free stuff", just as they would agree with us that lazy white people should never be rewarded with "free stuff". Folks who would challenge this statement simply do not know very many black people...

Way to call it, GTL. I wish people could get beyond skin color. If they want to solve problems like education, making it a skin color issue will do absolutely NOTHING to solve the problem...but then again, race hucksters like this really do not want to solve the problem. Without the problem, they have no purpose.

Damm it, I agree with GTL!!!! Getting my ice skates sharpened.
Unfortunately, people like Julius Chambers have created an atmosphere for Blacks to lose. The parents listen, and do not bother pushing the kids to learn, because they weren't pushed to learn, and the gov't will give them money, and Julius Chambers says they can't compete. A vicious circle.

It's why people like Julius exist. He's literally making money off keeping people judged by their color. The more HE can keep them down, the more money he makes complaining about it.

I see you have your very own Al Sharpton in your midst.
It's still amazes me how victimhood can be so profitable.

When you keep them uneducated, people don't learn that others like this exist only to profit off them. If people were actually educated, they would toss off race hucksters like this in a minute.

Candidates forced to pay for Opposition's elections!
Yes, really. In North Carolina, if you would like to run for election to be a judge, you, too, might be
forced to pay to fund your
opponent's election campaign. Oh, and if you refuse to pay? The North Carolina Bar Association will revoke your license and then you will be ineligible to run for office.
This is just another perverted side effect of the so-called "public financing laws" that are nothing but an absolute crushing of freedom of speech. Folks, money DOES equal free speech, even if you don't want it to. When you FORCE someone to pay for someone else's election, you ARE crushing freedom of speech.
So far, it appears the North Carolina State Bar Association is completely in support of the law that requires lawyers to fund their opposition's election campaigns. The courts have yet to weigh in, and they don't particularly want to. Then again, it will be literally impossible to find an impartial judge to rule in the case, because those very same judges who could rule would ALREADY BE RECIPIENTS of the extortion fees.
Freedom of Speech is gone in North Carolina. Too bad we don't have a law that protects freedom of speech.
