Help Communities Build Schools
Once again, feel free to weigh in either for or against this idea for North Carolina (even if you're not from North Carolina).
The lottery is a fact. It was named “The Education Lottery” and sold that it would be new money to help improve education. Now Governor Easley has admitted that the largest portion of lottery proceeds for lower class sizes and “More at Four” will be used to replace the money budgeted for these categories. Both lower class sizes and More at Four will require additional classrooms, but the lottery proceeds barely address the problem of providing new classrooms. Conservatives should amend the lottery law establishing the distribution of lottery funds and designate more money for school construction. More at Four and lower classroom sizes will not be affected because they are already funded in the budget while school construction is not.
Local school districts that are experiencing phenomenal growth should receive preference in the distribution of funds, instead of the present formula that gives extra lottery dollars to counties with declining school populations.
In case you've never read this site before, I'll let you know my position on so-called "public" schools: they stink. It's a government-run monopoly that is interested in promoting itself and expanding, with zero emphasis on education.
Now I do realize that these agenda items are items that people have a hope of getting through the General Assembly THIS YEAR, so they can't put up there "Removal of the public school system" -- even if they should. This agenda items suggests that conservatives modify the lottery law to distribute funds differently. I disagree.
If you want to modify the lottery law, just remove the damn thing. It's state-sponsored, monopolistic gambling. If you want gambling in North Carolina, just legalize gambling and be done with it. You would get much better establishments than just the "lottery" if you did -- and there'd be competition and much less blatant lying if you did that.
This item also doesn't mention much about these "smaller class sizes" and "more at four" programs. Those are governor Easley's pet projects that he loves -- because they give him more power, more control, and more money -- not because they actually DO anything, because they DON'T.
After years of reducing class sizes and years of Easley's trademark "more at four" programs, there is absolutely ZERO correlation between participating in those programs and educational process. In other words, reducing the class size from 30 to 18 has NO effect on education -- other than making it cost more because more teachers are required.
There's supposedly a teacher shortage in North Carolina -- yet no one seems to make the connection that it's because of smaller class sizes -- which, once again, has NO EFFECT on the actual education received. NONE. Same with the "more at four" programs -- they're supposed to give "more opportunity" to "disadvantaged" youths. While there may be evidence of very short-term benefits, over the long run (into middle- and high-school) there's NO effect when comparing those who participated and those who didn't.
Of course, this fits into Easley and the Democrat's plans -- they WANT education to cost more. They WANT more money and more power for education -- and they don't care in the least that their ideas and programs don't actually educate. In their mind, the education system exists so they can spend money and spread power around, and for no other reason.
So no, I don't support "rewriting" the lottery to build more schools. If we want to change school funding at the state level, how about completely eliminating any funding for "English as a Second Language?" Seriously! There's BILLIONS being spent on that, and we shouldn't be spending a dime. If you can't figure what amounts are being used there, it's even easier -- if a school district even HAS an "English as a Second Language" program, that district gets no state money. Can anyone give me a reason why not?
Will this pass? It's hard to say. The lottery is such a hot topic up there, I'm thinking the Democrats will be afraid to touch it at ALL.

The Telegram laments their lack of a dental school. Why do they "need" one? Because the closest one is just too far away -- and you see, it's just not fair that dentists tend to congregate where people are, the Telegram wants more dentists to work where there are no people.
The logical, sane person reading that might be thinking, "But wait -- if you put a dentist where there are not customers and people to actually PAY the dentist, how in the world is the dentist supposed to make a living?" The Telegram editors must have thought that too, for they provided a solution: get government to pay them!
No, really. There's not enough dentists in their small town, so they want the taxpayers of North Carolina to pay them to build a dental school where there's no demand for one, then get the working taxpayers to pay MORE money so they can have dentists getting paid and earning a living where they have no customers -- all run by the state, of course.
Folks, that's almost a textbook definition of socialism. The state decides who works where and decides what they get paid? What's next, the Telegram deciding who gets to be a dentist? I'm sure they'd like that power too -- no socialist refuses more power or money.

Growth has created challenges. Those challenges can only be conquered with an infusion of financial support.
And yes, this guy IS "vice president for business and finance for the community college system."
So the complaint is that there has been an increase of 50,000 students in the system (since 1999), and they don't have enough money to teach them all. Anyone with a 6th-grade education that wasn't supplied by the government-run monopolistic school system can see the simple answer: charge more money.
But no, not anyone associated with government. Instead of actually asking the people who are getting something from the state, they want everyone ELSE to pay -- through more taxes. And they don't want a little, no, they want $141 million. Of that, only $31 million is to pay for students.
According to the NC state library, there are over 750,000 students enrolled. The average number of courses taken is 2, with the an average credit enrollment of 6. So, if the students paid a whopping extra $7 per credit hour, they'd pay for their own education. What a concept.
But that's not all they want. They want $33.5 million to give "faculty and staff" a seven percent raise. When is the last time YOU got a 7% raise? And being state employees, don't think for a minute that they're not already getting an annual cost-of-living raise -- that's built in for all state employees.
Once again, government fails to make any sense in a free and capitalist society. I think community colleges are a good system -- but the state is utterly incompetent in running that system.

Eliminate the Gas Tax Increase
Once again, feel free to weigh in either for or against this idea for North Carolina (even if you're not from North Carolina).
The price of gas is sky-rocketing and the state has piled on by increasing the gas tax to the highest in the south. At the same time, the Legislature has used the gas tax for general spending.
Keep that last sentence in mind. The supporters of the gas tax increase will continue to sell it as a way to pay for roads -- but they're outright lying when they say that. The Democrats have been stealing gas taxes to pay for their own "projects" for over a decade now. If they hadn't stolen the gas taxes we're already paying for the past dozen years, we wouldn't have road problems because we'd have over a billion dollars already spent on roads.
The gas tax increase was also a cop-out. The Democrat-passed law on gas taxes makes the gas tax increase whenever the wholesale price of gas increases. As ludicrous as that sounds, that's really how it is -- so when the price of gas goes up because it costs more, you get hit twice because the state gets a larger percentage. Why? Because then the legislature doesn't have to go on record as supporting a tax increase. Weasels.
The state of North Carolina has too much money. They honestly do not need any more money for anything. Anyone who tells you the gas tax supports roads is an outright liar, or just doesn't know any better. Set them straight.
As for this agenda item, it's only supported by 66% of the people of North Carolina. However, my inside sources at the legislature tell me that this one has a good chance of passing -- think about it -- the Democrats have to win an election this fall, so look for this to pass and quickly become a centerpiece of the Democrat platform in North Carolina this fall.

A History On The ACLU Part 1
Originally Appeared On Gribbit's Word April 14, 2005
I researched the Congressional Record dated Wednesday, September 20, 1961. Very important information relating to the ACLU and it's Communist/Socialist ambitions.
Dr. Fredrick Schwartz, executive director of the International Christian Anticommunism Crusade, "Communist Legal Subversion," page 75, House Committee on Un-American Activities: "Any attempt to judge the influence of Communists by their numbers is like trying to determine the validity of the hull of a boat by relating the area of the holes to the area which is sound. One hole can sink a ship. Communism is the theory of the disciplined of few controlling and directing the rest. One person in a sensitive position can control and manipulate thousands of others."
FBI Director, J. Edger Hoover called Communists, "Masters of Deceit". He continues, "Fronts probably represent the party's (communist) most successful tactic in capturing non-Communist support. Like mass agitation and infiltration, fronts espouse the deceptive party line (hence the word "front"), while actually advancing the real party line. In this way the party is able to influence thousands of non-Communists, collecting large sums of money, and reach the minds, pens, and tongues of many high-ranking and distinguished individuals. Moreover, fronts are excellent fields for party recruitment." The FBI director, people! more...

Representative Steven King introduced a great law that would remove that whole "doing jobs Americans won't do" lie. It's an economic penalty for businesses who support breaking the law. Here's how it works as I understand it:
If a company earns $100, they only have to pay taxes on the profit portion of that $100. So if it costs them $40 to make the product, they only have to pay taxes on $60. Part of the expenses of making a product is wages. So, if they pay $15 for parts and $25 on labor, the total, $40, is their cost to make the product.
This law would stop the companies from counting that portion of their labor costs that are given to criminal aliens. So if the same company from above pays $20 to criminal aliens for labor and $5 to legal citizens, their cost for labor would only be $5. That means their cost, according to the IRS, would be only $20 -- meaning they could have to pay taxes on $80 instead of $60.
It might not eliminate all wages paid to illegals, but it will certainly make them cost a lot more to the businesses -- and it really isn't that hard to enforce.
As I previously mentioned, Bill Frist has a bill that would actually enforce the laws we have, instead of giving away the country. Folks, we have got to support these good bills before the bad ones overtake the country entirely.

Amnesty:
A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses.
If one breaks the law, specifically immigration law, and they are not punished for it, that's amnesty. Any "guest worker" program is amnesty. Anything at all that does not deport the criminals is, by definition, amnesty.
Teddy Kennedy:
We should reject temporary status and required departure because they are bad for business
That's amnesty.
Senator Specter's bill:
illegal immigrants would have to undergo background checks, pay fines, back taxes and clear other obstacles before getting on the "citizenship track." They wouldn't have to leave the United States.
That's amnesty, even though he absolutely REFUSES to call it that. Face the facts, Senator Specter, that IS amnesty. I can call you an honest person all day long, but that doesn't make it true now, does it?
Senator Patrick Leahy:
Opponents of a fair, comprehensive approach are quick to claim that anything but the most punitive provisions are amnesty. They are wrong
No, Senator, YOU are wrong. That's an absolute lie. IF YOU DON'T PUNISH SOMEONE FOR THEIR CRIME, IT IS AMNESTY.
Senator Specter, a big supporter of criminals, says:
If there is a better way to bring these 11 million people forward so that we can identify them, we are open to any suggestions which anyone may have.
Hello? Bueller? How about going to the "protest marches" with a paddy wagon or 10? And wait, this Senator claims that he cannot "bring these people forward" by enforcing the current laws -- but somehow by charging them fines and making them pay back taxes, they will suddenly come forward?
Does anyone think this guy is serious? We have known criminals who actively hide from law enforcement people because they're breaking the law and everyone knows it -- and Senator Specter proposed by charging them money they'll suddenly come forward? How stupid is this? How did someone with this level of intelligence get elected to the U.S. Senate? Are all the people in PA this stupid?
And Bush is completely on the wrong track, too. It's clear he's not running for election, because he wouldn't have a chance against anyone but someone really useless, say, like John Kerry. Bush says:
There are people doing jobs Americans will not do
No, President Bush, you are wrong. That is simply not true. Americans will do any job -- but perhaps not for as little as Mexicans will. So stop the lie, claiming they're doing jobs no one else will do is simply not true.
Many people who have come into our country are helping our economy grow. That's just a fact of life.
Okay then, based on that statement, let's invite some more al-queerda into the US to bomb stuff. Heck, that will create more construction jobs, right? It will create the need for more medical staff and emergency personnel, and that will help the economy, right? That's just a dumb statement.
And that doesn't even consider the fact that these criminals are sending BILLIONS of dollars to their "home" country -- removing that money from our economy -- or the fact that supporting them through medicare, medicaid, welfare, law enforcement, and education is costing TONS more than they are "adding" to our economy. Mr. Bush, please get a clue and stop saying such assanine things.
Stop supporting people who willingly and constantly break the law. Don't make citizens out of a large group of people who also don't even WANT to be citizens -- they want their own country here in the US -- and those aren't my words, those are the words of people organizing and participating in the protest marches opposing law enforcement -- who Specter and his pals apparently support.

In this case, those retailers have decided they will not carry an issue of a magazine that has dared to insult Islam -- only because it insults Islam. They are blatantly lying and claiming that they are doing it for "the children safety and security," but anyone with eyes can see through that lie.
Why do they have to lie? Perhaps it is because they're trying so hard not to offend anyone, they can't do anything BUT lie. They don't want to offend building-burning anti-American terrorists, so they don't carry the magazine. They don't want to offend their actual customers, Americans, so they have to claim they're NOT doing it because they want to appease terrorists.
Beth Bingham, "spokeswoman" for the company, you are an ass. You are doing nothing more than surrendering to the enemy. This has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with appeasement. It's called Dhimmitude, and you're actively participating. Welcome to the category of surrender monkey.

After the man got out of his car, a thief tried to steal the car. The man, armed, who may have been about to die, fired back. The thief fired at the man. Few details are available now, but the bullet holes are in the front of the car, not the rear. But the man may still face charges for "shooting a gun in the city limits."
So you want to reduce crime in Charlotte? Let people defend themselves from the criminal predators that live there. But wait, the city council and government do NOT want to actually stop crime! I'm serious here. The more crime there is, the better the reason the council can give for more police spending -- which gets them more tax money and more control. That IS how that city's government works. Don't like it? Vote someone else in or leave.
And oh yes, the biggest anti-freedom people in the state, the Charlotte Observer, agrees:
Do not resist. Do not carry a gun. [you] should not resist robbery attempts.
So enjoy your stay in Charlotte. The police and government are more concerned with protecting the criminals who live here than not just protecting the actual working citizens, but even ALLOWING you to protect yourself from them.

Hello? This once again shows how utterly disconnected these people are from reality. Hey idiots -- no one disagrees with you! Sure, there's psycopaths that commit the crime, but do you think these morons know that rape is already a crime?
One lunatic at the march said, "This has been a fight for women of African American descent for as long as we can remember." Oh. So they're not against rape, it's only rape of so-called "African-Americans" (whatever the hell that means). So these people support raping whites, just not blacks. Damn racists.
These people need to get jobs. They need to find a hobby that isn't so damn stupid. Perhaps they're not aware that a police investigation is under way. Maybe they don't know that the entire team's seasons has already been ended, and NO ONE has even been convicted yet.
Then again, maybe these people are just complete and total idiots.

I would say I was the one that stood between the people and a tax increase. The county has had no choice but to raise property taxes for school construction.
What we don't want to do is price our work force out of our city.
After Police Chief Darrel Stephens asked for more officers, she said, "Well, I guess we're going to have to give people what they want and raise taxes for more police officers."
This is completely dishonest. However, most people buy into this lie. Instead of spending MORE money, they could just REDUCE spending in other areas! This is how Democrats/the left/socialists/big government-types work. They raise taxes for things they should actually be doing (protecting people), while wasting money on every other program and special project they can find.
They just raised taxes to pay for the Nascar Museum. The new stadium they built cost millions and millions of dollars -- with "no tax increase." It's all a shell game. Jeff Taylor points out another example of the shell game.
These Democrats on the city council are nothing but a bunch of liars who will quite literally do anything to take more money from people so they can spend it. It used to be called "theft." Now it's called "politics." -- and it stinks.

At issue is their support of moronic lawsuits where the state of North Carolina is sueing the Tennessee Valley Authority for making too much smoke. It doesn't matter to the Observer that the TVA has reduced their air-based pollutants consistently over the past years -- the Observer simply wants them to produce LESS energy.
That IS the primary goal of the socialists, the left, Democrats, and environmentalists -- to reduce freedom. They honestly want people to have less energy. The more energy you have, the more freedom you have -- and the socialists at the Observer do NOT want you to have freedom. That is their position.
Keep that in mind when considering advertising in their paper, or even frequenting those who advertize in that paper.

Another Reason It's Time For The Fair Tax
By Doug Patton, courtesy of GOPUSA.com
March 27, 2006
As April 15th approaches, millions of us are again poring over receipts, records and other information relevant to our federal income taxes. After getting everything in order, we will be forced by the complexity of the tax code to take it all to an accountant or other tax professional, who will spend a few very expensive hours working through a process our own government doesn't even understand much of the time. Finally, our tax preparer will place in front of us a stack of papers, some of which we will be expected to sign.

Limit Spending By Adopting the Taxpayer Protection Act
Once again, feel free to weigh in either for or against this idea for North Carolina (even if you're not from North Carolina).
Spending is out-of-control in North Carolina. Last year spending increased by more than $1 billion, and the Legislature adopted a budget that projected a $600 million increase in tax collections based on economic growth. But that was not enough for the big spenders Â… they increased taxes by another $600 million. The Taxpayer Protection Act would limit the increase in government spending to population growth plus the rate of inflation. If the Taxpayer Protection Act had been in effect in 2005, there would have been no tax increases.
And those numbers don't include the extra huge piles of money to be raised by the lottery that will start tomorrow.
Yes, the North Carolina government spends WAY too much money. Why? Because they can. Why must they spend hundreds of millions on things like welfare for criminal aliens? Why should they support free education by spending millions on English as a second-language program? Whey are they spending millions raising oysters?
Everywhere a taxpayer protection act has been put in place, it works. The way it works is simple -- it forces the government to limit increases in spending according to the population and income growth. In other words, in North Carolina, where the population continues to expand, the government will STILL be able to spend more money -- just not quite as much as the Democrats would like.
72% of the people of North Carolina who were surveyed agree that North Carolina should have a taxpayer protection act. I'd love to see that survey question asked of the Democrats in the NC Legislature -- I'm betting it would be about 2%. Why? Because that's the Democrat ideal -- do not limit government in any way, shape, or form.
Will this pass? I don't think so. It has been introduced in the past, by Republicans, of course, and the Democrats have quickly squashed it. Conservatives want smaller government. This is one of the best ways to quickly stop massive, unrestrained, government growth. It SHOULD be passed.

In this opinion article, the Observer weighs in on socialist-indoctrination in "public" schools. This, of course, means government-run monopoly schools, which the Observer and socialists STRONGLY support -- because it gives the government ultimate control over the vast majority of the population.
In the opinion article, the Observer wants more money -- TONS more money -- for "education." They honestly believe that everyone CAN be educated, even psychopathic felonious sex offenders.
The article complains and whines that the people will not approve billion-dollar spending plans for schools. They clearly come across as much more knowledgeable than the "common man" who is too dumb to not vote for a tax increase.
But even that's not enough for the Observer. They support elected government representatives doing whatever it takes, even considering things that the people do not want, to get more money and to make school year-round. The Observer thinks that people should BE PUNISHED for refusing to vote for more taxes and more bonds. They want MORE taxes in the form of increased sales taxes, property taxes, and real-estate taxes.
No, there is no amount of money that's enough for the Observer. They only want MORE. And they literally want to punish anyone who disagrees with them and their socialist control of everything because, in their mind, you're an idiot.
Keep that in mind when you read the Observer -- they think you are a moron and only they can judge what you should do -- the complete opposite of freedom and America.

In fact, there's an idea -- enact the Fair Tax and put all the unemployed IRS workers to work for ICE deporting criminals.
For those who say we can't deport them all, but support making them pay fines and back taxes -- what will you do when they don't pay? You've already said that you simply "cannot get" all of them, so by claiming you'll fine them or penalize them, you're not making logical sense.
Bill Frist has a bill. It doesn't include supporting lawbreakers. It has no amnesty -- well, actually, it's 243 damn pages long, so I doubt ANYONE knows what's really in it.
At first glance, it looks pretty good. It increases border patrol agents and related agents, and it actually admits we have borders to this country. It includes tracking of criminals, a biometric exit/entry process, and actually supports deporting convicted criminals.
Senator Frist, no matter what threats of filibuster exist, send that bill to the floor!
