Boudicca, of Boudicca's Voice is looking for a new car. However, she says that she needs something "family size" that will get "30 mpg." She had pretty much given up hope.

Then tony (in comments to my 250 mpg Automobiles post) said that she should consider VW's Passat -- 1.8L turbo-4 version with a MANUAL tranny, of course. I went to their web site, and you cannot get a 2006 Passat with a 1.8L engine, the smallest is a 2.0L. Strangely enough, the automatic transmission is an option for $1,075 (yay!). So, Bou's going to have to look for previous model year Passat to get the 1.8L (or drop one in herself, I suppose).

However, she's still worried that the vehicle will not be large enough for "3 soon to be grown boys in the back." Bou, boys can fit lots of places:
