Bush gets it
The only complaint I have about the Bush speech is that he claims the enemy is a "perverted version of Islam." It's not. Islam REQUIRES it's people to destroy the United States and all unbelivers. They are required to kill and destroy us.

We have learned that they are evil and kill without mercy -- but not without purpose. We have learned that they form a global network of extremists who are driven by a perverted vision of Islam -- a totalitarian ideology that hates freedom, rejects tolerance, and despises all dissent. And we have learned that their goal is to build a radical Islamic empire where women are prisoners in their homes, men are beaten for missing prayer meetings, and terrorists have a safe haven to plan and launch attacks on America and other civilized nations. The war against this enemy is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century, and the calling of our generation.-- President Bush, September 11, 2006

But yes, Bush gets it when he says that this is the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century. And unfortunately, there are a large number of Americans that are on the wrong side of this battle.

If he gets it then why doesn't he ACT like he gets it??
He approved Khatami's visit. Khatami- he who supports Hezbullah and HAMAS; he who joined the fanatic rise of the current Iranian government as our citizens were held hostage.
I want to have faith in Bush again but it's very hard.

I don't understand it, either. He says the right things, but he's not DOING the right things.

I think it comes down to the government sometimes having to do distatesful things. Also, alot of things happen which never make it to the President. I'm sure we all make decisions at work for ourselves. We aren't asking the guy making 7 million a year with stock options for the decision, even though he (or she) is ultimately responsible.
And sometimes we pooch those decisions. Sometimes things go wrong.
I just fired someone for sexual harrassment. Alot of it. Not going to blame the CEO, who probably doesn't even know the story or persons name.
Moving on, it is rather sad that the womens groups here and abroad do not stick up for the plight of women in Islamic countries, all because of their BDS.

That's an interesting one, Teach. Nearly all "womens" groups in the US support Islam and terrorists. But when the Muslims gain control, they CRUSH women and rights. I suppose it could be that's what the womens groups actually want...
