Carolina Winter

This week's Tarheel Tavern is hosted over at Captivated by Mandie. The suggested topic is "winter." I could only think of what I think about when I think winter in Carolina:

It's nearly always that blue sky. There very little snow or ice in the winter here in the Piedmont, so you just get bare trees all winter -- but still that sun and sky. I think that's the #1 reason why people move here.

1 If only there was no 20-60 mph winds every now and then it would be perfect. I love the cold but the wind gets up too much some days. I live next to some woods and love walking through them and seeing nature mostly unaffected by humans and development.

2 I think of ice storms that knock the power out for two weeks. *knocks on wood that we haven't had any yet this winter*

3 Ice Storms? They happen so infrequenty, I forget. Sure, they predict them out here about once a week, but heck, the last time I saw snow or ice here that actually made it to the ground was last winter.
