Carter: Like Father Like Son

Jack Carter, to be forever known as "Jimmy Carter's Son" (even in the headline to the news story jumps out to make news about his Senate run and lands squarely on the fence.

He appears to be just another in a long line of politicians, especially Democrats, who want to be all things to all people just to win. Most of those who take this position will say whatever the person they are addressing wants to hear -- with no regard for truthfulness or even having an actual position on an issue.

In this case, Carter says that he supports abortion on demand, but he's opposed to abortion. Now in some cases, this type of position can make sense -- you can support something without supporting government forcing people to do it. That type of position is one that I firmly support -- there is very little that government should actually be doing.

However, one of the few things they should be doing is protecting human life. Is it okay for me to say that committing armed robbery is wrong, but I don't think government should be telling people not to do it? Seems like the same thing to me. But then again, I'm often told that I'm "too" black and white on issues...
