Why? Well, to listen to the team, there's 14 new stadiums that have been built, and Charlotte needs to "keep up." No, they don't say there's anything at all wrong with the current stadium, just that others are newer. Prepare for the campaigning for the next 3 years. Watch for yearly updates and comparisons. Watch for "complaints" from businesses. Watch for government claiming they could "create jobs" with a new stadium.
And then, watch for the "grassroots" movement (orchestrated by professional government bureaucrats) that will "rise up" to demand a stadium referendum. And then the threats of "moving" will begin. Since the team is named "Carolina," I expect to see Raleigh, NC and Columbia, SC to start "bidding" to encourage the team to move.
Bottom line? Hold on to your wallet, because yet another private enterprise is getting ready to demand cash that you have earned -- and there will be a heavily armed government ready to use massive force to take that money you earn and give it to these millionaires.
