Charlotte Taxes going UP and UP!

If you are considering moving, one of the first things you should consider is the politics of where you will move. Very seldom, however, do people do this. Why does it make a difference? Because more and more today, politicians want more control over your life. It DOES make a difference.

For example, if you're considering moving to Charlotte, NC, you might want to hear some of the things that are being said by the various candidates for City Council. There is an election later this year, and there are various primaries currently running. The primary election is scheduled for September 27th.

I'll put more details in the extended entry. If you're not interested in Charlotte politics, seriously, check out the politics of a place before you move there. District 1 (winner of this race wins the general election, as there is not opposition due to Democrat gerrymandering):
Choose one:

Candidate A:

find some additional revenue

Translation: Raise Property Taxes

Candidate B:

Everybody wants a piece of the pie and there are essentials that have to be met.

Translation: No way I'm reducing spending on ANYTHING, so I will raise taxes, too.

District 3:
Candidate A (incumbent):

We have beautiful land... I've provided positive leadership.

He also voted to spend $150 million on arts.

Candidate B (challenger):

The district is stagnant. Too much crime. Too high unemployment.

He complained about the $150 million on arts, saying he could have spent it somewhere else.

District 4 (no general election opposition due to gerrymandering):
Candidate A: "We need to build more infrastructure"
Candidate B: "We need impact fees and payroll taxes"
Candidate C: "We need impact fees and 'other ways' to raise money"

Democrats at-large (select 3 of 4):
ALL FOUR CANDIDATES: "Higher taxes on corporations, more spending on the lazy, more punishment of freedom (forced 'carpooling')"
Candidate A (incumbent): Supports four-year council terms.
Candidate B: Give away more city money in benefits for any person (or thing) any city employee designates.
Candidate C: Really, really high impact fees (taxes), and consolidate city and county government.

Nice choices, huh? If you are conservative or believe in freedom, even a little bit, STAY AWAY FROM CHARLOTTE, NC. No matter who wins the election in the fall, they WILL spend more money, and they WILL substantially raise taxes.

It's time to cut and run! There's a time to fight, and there's a time to abandon ship. GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN. There is no freedom, nor sanity, nor democracy in Charlotte.
