Charlotte Votes to Oppose Freedom

In a continuing trend in Charlotte, NC and across the nation, another vote was held this week by the city council that sends a very clear message. That message is:

Shut the h*** up and do what we tell you because we don't give a damn about that old, outdated concept called "Freedom."

At issue was the classic new socialist control method: zoning. A man bought some land and wanted to build his own business on that land. The Charlotte city council told him that he couldn't build it.

No, it wasn't an eyesore. No, it wasn't about public safety. They didn't deny it because it would create a nuisance. They didn't even deny it because so-called "neighborhood activists" opposed it. This time it wasn't because the new business didn't donate enough cash to politicians.

Quite often, the appearance is considered -- not in this case. And amazingly it's not because of the most oft-used reason in Charlotte -- because the business wouldn't conform with the city "plan" (including light rail).

So, why was this person denied a business?

Because the Imperial City Council said that there were already "enough" of that business on that road. The message from the city council is VERY clear. If you like freedom, you are NOT welcome in the "World-Class" city of Charlotte.
