Defense of Property is a Crime

The DA in Charlotte is considering whether to press charges against a man who may have fired a gun in self-defense. Why? Apparently the idiot left his car running as he got out of his car in Charlotte. That's dumb. Charlotte is a damn hotbed of crime, especially property crimes. Why? Because police not only demand that you surrender if being robbed or attacked, but the law can punish you for fighting back.

After the man got out of his car, a thief tried to steal the car. The man, armed, who may have been about to die, fired back. The thief fired at the man. Few details are available now, but the bullet holes are in the front of the car, not the rear. But the man may still face charges for "shooting a gun in the city limits."

So you want to reduce crime in Charlotte? Let people defend themselves from the criminal predators that live there. But wait, the city council and government do NOT want to actually stop crime! I'm serious here. The more crime there is, the better the reason the council can give for more police spending -- which gets them more tax money and more control. That IS how that city's government works. Don't like it? Vote someone else in or leave.

And oh yes, the biggest anti-freedom people in the state, the Charlotte Observer, agrees:

Do not resist. Do not carry a gun. [you] should not resist robbery attempts.

So enjoy your stay in Charlotte. The police and government are more concerned with protecting the criminals who live here than not just protecting the actual working citizens, but even ALLOWING you to protect yourself from them.

1 Wow! The wholes are in the front? Sounds to me like he was being run down by his own car, and he is being punished for that? This is unbelievable. Not only was he nearly killed is being put on trial for protecting not only his property, but also his LIFE, but he is being screwed by the government in another way. He had to pay taxes on that car. He has to pay taxes on that gun. He had to pay taxes on the bullets. He has to pay taxes to keep his license and permit to carry the gun and bullets to PROTECT himself. Where did all these taxes go? To protecting the guy that attempted to steal from him and possibly attempted to kill him. I'm saving money to get a new truck, right now ... maybe it would be easier to just pick one up out of the parking lot when I get off work in the morning? hahaha

2 Go down to Charlotte. Auto theft is a huge problem in Charlotte, and the police don't do anything about it. The only reason they even responded to this call is because the gun was fired -- I kid you not. I had items stolen from a car in Charlotte years ago. The police just took the report over the phone and didn't have time to actually come to the vehicle and do simple things like lift fingerprints -- they're just too damn busy to bother.
