Democrats hope for Angry Vote
Well, the Democrats appear to be pinning their hopes on
the angry voter to take back the Congress in 2006. Jill Zuckman from the Washington Bureau of the Chicago Tribune writes about a number of quotes from the current Democrat planners.
The Democrats are excited that people are disappointed in Congress. The Democrats are working with the press to publicize as many scandals as they can regarding Republicans to attempt to get more people angry at Republicans and to turn more people off from voting -- the less people vote, the better Democrats appear to do.
Comparisons are being made about the approval ratings of Congressmen between the 1994 Republican takeover and today -- they are about the same. However, the Republicans claim that the biggest reason people voted for them in 1994 was because they promised change -- the Contract With America -- not just because voters were annoyed at scandals.
Of course, in 1993, there were 89 competitive seats. Today there are 28. That number alone should just sicken people. Just 6% of the seats in Congress are competitive. That's absolutely awful. That means 94% of the Congress is fat, dumb, and happy, and needs to do nothing to remain in their job. Ugh.
But if someone's going to capitalize on the dislike for Congress and scandals, how about a slogan for the 2006 Congressional elections:
You can't trust Democrats.
You can't trust Republicans.
Vote Libertarian.

Sure, as long as the Libertarians will hold them accountable for the crap that they've pulled. I mean, really accountable, like EQUALLY accountable to the common person for crimes that they commit.
I want Ken Lay on a road gang and I want Ted Kennedy in jail for murder...
How's that?... Will the Libertarians enforce the law?... or will Admiral Poindexter get another high level position after committing crimes that would get the most people hung for treason.
Will the ULTRA-elite on both sides have to give up some of their control of the laws that protect their money?
Will Libertarians find out what really happened in Florida?... who's really responsible for the anthrax here?... Will they force the responsible parties to pay for this insanity?
If so... then I'm all for it.

The thing that concerns me is that, if it is Republicans voting Libertarian, that could allow dems to capture seats. It's kinda like the idiots we know and at least pay lip service to COnservatives, vs Dems who are becoming increasingly insane.

I look at it that if you want bigger spending and more government, you can choose either Republicans or Democrats. If you want smaller government and less spending, you don't really have a choice right now.

And Island, I think the libertarians would be more inclined to break up the system rather than protect it.

... and it give a whole new meaning to the term, "libs"... as well... ha!
I'm not so sure tho ogre... for whatever reason it is that neither side ever REALLY goes after the crooks on the other side.
And if the Libertarians didn't sweep the election, then you've got big problems, because they'd essentially be powerless, like a Libertarian president would, cept "he'd" be impeached in short order.
I'm thinking that a referendum is more in order.

I think pretty much every one of the current Congressmen needs to go -- but I don't get much support for my revolution to change the current government into a Constitutional Republic ruled by the Constitution...
