Are we winning the War on Terrorism?
If not, how can we reverse that trend?
If yes, how long will this war last?
Should we be handling terrorism as a war or as a criminal act?
Well, that's quite a topic change considering the news topics this week, eh?
Are we winning the War on Terrorism?
I have to admit, this is an area that I do not keep up with the latest actually happenings. It's an area that only some will know what is really happening. Therefore, I've got to trust others for the answers. Keep in mind, however, that I do subscribe to the Reagan philosophy -- trust, but verify.
Because of the unique situation, I have to trust President Bush. He says that we're winning, and I have no reason to doubt that. I've seen evidence of freedom winning over terrorism in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. After a long series of terrorist events over decades, there have been no confirmed terrorist attacks on US soil since September 11th.
I'm not going to address why, because I simply don't know. Perhaps there is another attack around the corner, but it certainly doesn't appear so. I don't give credit to the silliness at the airports, but something seems to working to some degree.
If yes, how long will this war last?
How long will it last? A long, long time. It would certainly end if all people of islam would stop attacking Americans. It would end if they were all dead, too. Hopefully it won't have to go that far.
During the crusades, muslims tried to take over the world. When they were beaten down enough to stop trying, there was peace. I think that is the point we will have to arrive at before this current war on terror will end -- people of the muslim religion will have to be attacked until they stop attacking Americans just for being American.
Should we be handling terrorism as a war or as a criminal act?
War. Most certainly as a war. Criminal acts are committed by American citizens with different purposes and motives. Criminal acts are individuals acting against other individuals. War is an organized group of people trying to destroy and entire civilization, and that is what we are engaged in -- one religion is trying to destroyed anyone who disagrees with them on this entire planet.
