I-95 Toll Booths

It appears to just be a matter of time before North Carolina creates a few toll roads. Recently Virginia voted to add a toll on their side of the state line, so North Carolina, not to be outdone, has started talking about adding one on THEIR side of the line.

State Senator Tony Rand (D) says that he wants a toll road there. Why? So he can have more money to spend. In his official statements, he claims the money will be used to fix I-95. He's lying. The money would go into the general fund for them to use on whatever they want.

Oh, sure, the law passed will say that all proceeds will go to the highway trust fund -- but they'll just continue doing as they are now, voting each year to take hundreds of millions of dollars out of that trust fund that's supposed to build roads and plop it in the general fund.

When the Democrat-controlled legislature of North Carolina votes for anything, you can rest assured it IS about getting them more power, more money, and more control. Yet people keep voting for these power-mad legislators.
