John Roberts Questioning

By now I'm sure everyone knows that President George W. Bush has nominated one Judge John Roberts to the Supreme Court. As head of the Left (and rabidly anti-freedom) Charles Schumer (D-NY) prepares his questions for the nominee, I would like Mr. Roberts and the Democrats in the Senate to remember the words of Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) in 1993, CHAIRMAN of the Senate Judiciary Committee, when addressing the last potential Supreme Court nominee during the last Senate confirmation hearings on a Supreme Court Justice:

"You not only have a right to choose what you will answer and not answer, but in my view you should not answer a question of what your view will be on an issue that clearly is going to come before the court in 50 forms probably, over your tenure on the court."

So, Mr. Schumer, not answering a question is NOT grounds for voting against this nominee, according to your own party.

1 I always thought the "dumbass questions" comment by Orin Hatch was the best line in that fiasco.

2 Add to that the fact that under our legal code of conduct, it is not ethical for a "judge" to posit how he would rule on a matter, no matter how it is phrased to him. What his opinions are on current events is fair game, but what his ruling would be in a situation is not.

3 You just wait. And refusal to answer any question will be used as a basis to "Bork" him.
