Monday Night Football

So, did anyone watch the Monday Night game last night? I only caught part of it (it stays on way past my bedtime), but what I saw was absolutely awful. No, not the football players, the announcers.

My impression was that I was listening to a radio talk show and there happened to be a football game going on. I watched about 45 minutes to an hour of the game and not one time did the announcers say the down and distance -- not one time. They were too busy talking to one another, telling jokes, picking out whether Aquaman could beat Superman, and other such crap.

They missed penalty call announcements on the field because they were answering emails from viewers. They missed injured players because they were talking about the history of some other players that weren't even on the field.

That was really, really awful. Maybe the second half they actually announced the game.

2 Fortunately, bad weather interrupted our satellite transmission, and I had to listen to the first half on the radio. Our radio guys did exactly the opposite of what you described. I *do* wish the TV folks were as good. Second half I was too busy wallowing in misery to notice what the talking heads were saying.

3 Yeah, Harvey, you didn't miss much, I assure you. It was really, really bad.
