? No, it's been fine all throughout recorded history, just now it's no longer "fair."
U.S. District Judge James Robertson (yeah, Clinton appointed him), claims that US Cash "violates the Rehabilitation Act" because it's not fair to blind people. Of course, the fact that blind people have been doing just fine with their cash has absolutely NO bearing on the case.
So, what's the liberal solution? Mess up the entire country. Force the US Treasury to completely change everything they do. Force all retailers in the country to refit every piece of equipment they own dealing with cash. Make all banks adjust everything they do. Cost the citizens billions upon billions of dollars: all because a couple people complained.
The simple and proper solution? Congress should simply abolish the Rehabilitation Act. Yeah, I know, Democrats are in charge, so the logical, simple, freedom-based solution will NEVER happen.

Lord deliver us from those morons.

I dunno -- about 30 years ago I knew some blind folks in DC who ran a news stand, and they had some way of feeling a bill and knowing its denomination, no problem.
What does this guy propose, 5, 10, and 20 dollar brailles?

He wants the bills to all be different sizes -- completely changing everything that has anything to do with cash in the entire country.

Brail might work but doing away with a program that has cost the taxpayers billions and added 0 benefit would seem the better solution.

Let's go with the Democrat solution: spend as much taxpayer cash as possible without actually solving any problems so they can continue to spend more to prove they're "doing something" about the problem.

He probably got it from Europe. It really drove me nuts the first couple of months I was in Germany with the different size bills. But it certainly made it easier after a while. I agree they should abolish the Rehabilitation Act. And just say they want to change the bills to make it easier for blind or those hard of seeing. Heck, it might even help us that can't think straight. ;-)

The expense involved in changing the currency would be absolutely astronomical. Everything from bank valuts to ATMs to cash registers would have to be completely replaced. What a waste.

Ogre, I can't see cash registers needing to be changed, just make sure we make the dollars smaller. Heck, our coins are different sizes. ATM machines, again... make the new bills smaller. It might take a small change to keep them together, but that is part of the American way to make money - right? ;-) Yaa... I can't resist. Bank Vaults? Please... GRIN

You think they'll make them smaller? But then the "visibility challenged" won't be able to see them. And the ATMs and stuff just won't work with smaller bills.
Hopefully Harvey's right on this one and it will become moot quickly.
