More Fines for NC

This time, the North Carolina government wants more money (what else is new?) In this case, legislators who are afraid to be identified from North Carolina are working with Virginia legislators to fine anyone who DARES to cross the state line between the two states.

They hope to steal raise $100 million for each state by adding a $5 fee for crossing the state line (much more for commercial trucks -- and keep in mind that if the trucks have to pay $20 for crossing the state line, that cost WILL be passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices).

What will they use the money for? Whatever they want. The North Carolina legislature is famous for taking money raised for roads and using it for any other projects they want -- they regularly steal from the highway "trust" fund to put money in the general fund.

So, how much money does it take to run government today? More. Always more.

1 This is incredible! I hope that you can stop this. I was considering moving to NC next year to start a new business but I think I will remain in TX. We have high property taxes and some toll roads but that is about the extent of it. Good luck on this one.

2 If you have a BIG business, North Carolina is your friend because they will pay you cash to locate here -- lots of cash -- $200+ million if you're Dell.
