NC Democrats Raise Taxes Again
Despite having one of the highest sales taxes in the southeast, Democrats in NC simply don't have enough of your money to spend. Mike Easley says "it's for the children," and everyone is forced to open their pocket books. Democrats are now
preparing to raise the sales tax by 14%.
The currently filed bills will only raise the sales tax in Pitt County, but do you think for a moment other counties will sit by and let Pitt County have the highest sales tax in the state? Currently Mecklenburg County is quite proud to have a higher sales tax than the rest of the state. When this bill passes, Pitt County's sales taxes will exceed Mecklenburg's. I expect to see a bill filed immediately allowing Mecklenburg to raise their sales tax by an additional 1% -- there's no way the scum politicians in Mecklenburg will allow any other county to collect more taxes than they!
Worse, when the sales tax increase is complete, all the Democrats will actually claim they didn't raise taxes! Seriously! When the sales tax in Mecklenburg changes from 7.5% to 8.5%, every single Democrat in the General Assembly who voted for the tax increase will say, "Oh, we didn't increase the tax, we just did what the county asked, and we gave them permission to raise the tax."
At the same time, the slimeballs county officials will all say, "No, we didn't raise the taxes, we had to because the general assembly forced us to." And when campaign season comes, watch every last one of them claim with a straight face that they didn't vote to raise taxes.
What a pile a damn liars.

Well, they are working on a same type situation here. Apparently the lottery hasn't done enough for education here so government officials are talking about raising taxes on things like cigarettes, gasoline, and other commodities to pour into a broken education system.
The sad thing is they get away with it.
On another note, I sorta kinda have to defend while denigrating Al Gore. His home in Nashville has been subject to not one but two rate hikes in electrical bills. My bill is running an average of $60 higher this year than last year. These type rate hikes have to be government approved.
However, you've got to hand it to him for staying consistently stupid considering he didn't have a clue that's why his bill is so high and instead used the carbon credits as an excuse. I mean, when you're a millionaire, the size of your utility bill isn't all that important, is it, that is, until somebody points out the hyprocrasy? Or perhaps he didn't want to admit the Democrats supported the rate hikes that are bilking us average citizens, so he prefers to look like a hypocrit and a stupid one to boot.

Last year when the passed the lottery under VERY suspicious circumstance (a leg injury that hospitalized a senator who would have voted "no" and another senator who was on a sudden "vacation" who would have voted "no"), we were told over and over again that this was the solution to all our education problems. A year and $400 million later, all they want is MORE. I just can't believe so many people still buy the line "It's for the children." It KEEPS working.

Actually, I can't say it's working here and not just for the obvious reasons stated already. Residents in TN have won the big lottery exactly one time and what's more the person who won it bought the ticket in another state. Seldom is any of the big jackpots won here. So, basically the lottery money is going out of state making a poor state even poorer. On top of that, the illegal alien population here is a nightmare that no one seems to want to deal with.

And they'll all get re-elected next time.
PA did me proud last elections. All those reps who did the midnight vote for a pay raise got ridden out on rails. And then? Gub'ner Rendell makes special jobs in different areas of government (like the PA Liquor Control Board) so the schleps won't be unemployed.
I HATE POLITICIANS!

Wasn't it PA that tried to get every single incumbent out of office? Man, that would have been awesome.
