Now the premise of the entire complaint is faulty -- that piers disappearing is a bad thing that government must solve. If piers disappear, so what? The Observer whines that people will not be able to get fish for food. I'm sure government will give them piles of food and cash because that's what government does. Instead, let the free market take care of things! If piers cost money, they won't exist. Why is that a bad thing? To say it is implies that commercial businesses LOSING money is a good thing. Well, to socialists, that's likely true.
Beyond that, it's worse! Why are the piers suddenly losing money and closing? Because GOVERNMENT! Government has raised taxes and fees. Government has raised the amount they charge piers for licenses to allow individuals to fish on them. They're shutting down because GOVERNMENT has run them out of business!
Those of you who want to save the piers, don't go to government for the solution -- THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM.
