NC Lottery Results

The recently invisible governor of North Carolina (and I'm sure it's not because his buddy and pal, Jim Black, is being investigated by the feds and his pals are getting convicted of crimes) announced some results of the recent state monopoly on gambling.

“The real lottery winners are our schoolchildren across the state who have greater access to pre-k classes, smaller class size, safe, modern school buildings and college scholarships"

So we taxed the poor and instituted gambling so that children could get:

1. Access to pre-k classes. What does this accomplish? Absolutely zero. Studies have shown again and again that students who receive these government-sponsored pre-k classes do not show ANY increase in knowledge, education, or performance at all. Quite literally, the ONLY thing accomplished by these classes is a government-paid-for babysitting service so the parents can go back to work a year earlier and the taxpayers can foot the bill. Literally.

2. Smaller class size. Once again, there are zero studies that show ANY benefit at all from smaller class sizes. But that doesn't matter because people think that it helps and is better. IT IS NOT. It does not help any with education, performance or testing. Zero increase in actual education. Once again, the ONLY benefit this provides is more employment for teachers and more money spent on buildings to BUILD more classes. No educational benefit AT ALL.

3. Safe, modern school buildings. I'm sure there's more than a few people who might argue about the "safe" part of that one. But yet again, there is NO evidence that ANY type of building increases the learning of students. Just because they are in a freshly painted building, they do not learn more. There are NO measurable increases in education, learning, or knowledge at all based on ANY buildings used. Instead, the only result of this is more government spending to BUILD those buildings.

4. College Scholarships. So the government gives money to students so they can give money to the state to attend school. Seriously. The scholarships are for state schools -- the money paid GOES TO THE STATE. The state gave them the money. What kind of con job is this? If the state didn't give them the money, costs would be LESS because people couldn't afford it. So yes, again, ZERO increase in knowledge, education, or anything -- other than government spending.

So, now Governor Easley has finally admitted the sole and entire purpose for the education system in North Carolina -- to increase government spending. And at that, they are very, very successful. The government-run education system is HONESTLY not interested in "education" in the traditional sense -- they are interested in spending money, and absolutely NOTHING else.

Keep that in mind next time you shuttle your kids off to the "government" education center. They are there ONLY to get the government to spend more money. That's what governor Easley, Democrat, says.

1 They had the same PR in NY when they brought the lottery into existence. Years later it was discovered that only 15% actually made it into the school system during the first 5 yrs. So the system had to be overhauled to ensure that a large percentage went towards education. The devil is in the details!

2 Oh, it's okay, ZERO new money was gained with this system. Sure, they claim it's tons of "new" cash for the schools, but they are outright lying. They ARE using money that would have gone from the general fund, and then using that general fund for other "projects." Not only is there ZERO new money for schools, as you can see above, all the money being spent is on GOVERNMENT, not on education.

3 So it's not as the liberals say "for the children?" It's a little shell game they are playing, as Dems are want to do. And, you know, the taxes are going to have to go up to pay for the schools, which is what the lottery was supposed to do.

4 They can call this next tax increase either way. They can say they need MORE for the schools (which always works, because it's for the children (TM)) or they can say it's for "public safety." Which works because it's for fear. Democrats honestly don't care what reason they give. They just want MORE, period.
