Punish the Innocent
And reward the guilty. That's the standard use of the justice system in America today. Teenagers were trespassing and got shot. That should be the end of the story because if you're trespassing, YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW. However, these teenagers won't be punished at all. Sorry, since they got shot, we have to punish the evil person who had a gun and was defending himself, rather than the actual criminals.

That's why you should never leave a survivor. Wounding someone always gets you sued, killing them leaves no witness.
