Republican Approval Numbers

*** Update: Big Dog weighs in, and so does William Teach.

Just before the election, Republican approval numbers are down. It's the end of the world, according to the liberal media and the national socialist Democrat party. They think that they will take control of Congress in a few weeks. In a way that would be good, but only as long as Bush sharpens his veto pencil. I love it when there's gridlock and NO laws and taxes get passed.

However, the Republicans have a great opportunity to get the country behind them. This could be a perfect "October surprise" and would push Bushs' poll numbers way up. Sure, Democrats would be mad, the media would be fuming, but those groups already hate Republicans and Bush, so there's no point in appeasing them.

Yesterday, two Border Patrol agents were sentenced to jail for having the audacity to attempt to enforce the border of America. Seriously. They went to jail because they chased down an illegal immigrant drug dealer. If Bush wanted a huge Republican victory in a few weeks, he'd make this speech this morning:

My fellow Americans. I have called this press conference today to make an announcement of great import. There has been a miscarriage of justice and I am here to correct that problem. Two good citizens of this country have been wrongly prosecuted by our justice system, and I am here to remedy that.

Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos were working to defend our National border when an illegal alien from Mexico attacked them. When the illegal alien tried to escape prosecution by our judicial system, the agents tried to apprehend him. The agents were then, somehow, arrested and charged with crimes themselves by Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Kanof.

According to Ms. Kanof, Border Patrol agents are not supposed to chase or apprehend illegal aliens who break U.S. law. Seeing as how the U.S. Attorney's office is under my control, Ms. Kanof, you may consider yourself fired. I will not abide by attorneys under my control that refuse to uphold the laws of this country.

In addition, Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos are hereby pardoned completely by me. They are good agents who were attempting to enforce our borders and no one who attempts to secure the southern border of this United States will be prosecuted by the justice department on my watch. Instead, I order that these men be offered their jobs back as Border Patrol agents. And from this day forward, I want all border patrol agents to know that they will not be arrested nor stopped in any way from defending this country from a foreign invasion.

Raven agrees.

Yeah, I know it's not going to happen. I can dream, right? Again, the liberals might go nuts, but they're already nuts. I absolutely guarantee that the approval numbers for Bush and Republicans would go up overnight. And sure, Mexico might be annoyed, but I really, really don't care.

America is lost. We are way down the slope of decline from a once-great American civilization. We have surrendered. We have lost. America is no more.

1 Well Ogre, you know the old saying, "What goes up must come down." I guess we will be yet another empire destroyed by immigration and cultural breakdown.

2 Absolutely. I just wonder where history will mark the peak of the once-great American civilization -- the 50s and 60s or the 80s.

3 I linked to ya, Ogre, with a recommendation that everyone email the White House and the VP. Emailed Michelle Malkin, too, maybe she will get behind this, since she is a big proponent of stopping illegal immigration and protecting our borders.

4 Thanks. I'm telling you, if Bush were to do this, it would be absolutely gigantic. He'd have a wave of support like hasn't been seen in decades. Sure, some businesses might be mad, but The People would really love it.

5 I live in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District. Sticking to my philosophy of always voting for the most Conservative candidate, I will be forced to vote Republican, thought he Independence party candidate has a better chance of winning. Sadly, I will likely be living in the district represented by the first Muslim Congressman when the elections are finished. Have you heard about this guy? He is a former member of Farakan's Nation of Islam, and has had at least one fund raiser thrown for him by CAIR.

6 At least you have a choice. My ballot for Congress says "Select One" [ ] Patrick McHenry That's all. And yes, I've heard of the Muslim. It's all part of their plan to take over the country from within. If they can elect enough Muslims, they can force people to accept Sharia law and end the war on terrorist Muslims. He's bad news, and I can't actually believe there's enough people to elect him in that district.

7 We shall see. There have been people calling in to the various local Conservative talk radio shows I listen to stating that they have scores of people with every imaginable democratic campaign sign in their yards except this guy. I have noticed a few, but many of the flaming liberals with dozens of signs in their yard are conspicuously missing their Keith Ellison sign. It's possible that Tammy Lee, the leftist Independence party candidate could win. Some people are suggesting that Alan Fein (the R) withdraws in order to give Lee a better chance of winning, though I think it is too late to take his name off the ballot, so even in the off chance he goes for it, it wouldn't do a lot of good.

8 I thought the Muslim was a done deal. I didn't think anyone had ANY chance of beating him. That's good to hear that he might not win.

9 It's a sad state of affairs in this country when an election is down to a lefty or a Farrakhan Muslim, and our only hope is that the lefty wins. Ogre, great post, I tracked back to you from my own in-weighing on the subject. If only Bush would....

10 Thanks. And Bush is literally not interested in keeping America America. Seriously. He's hot on the track for the American Union and has ZERO interested in America having any national borders or identity.
