Here's how it works:

The socialists in Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) enacted a tax. They did so under false pretenses, lying to the public to ensure they would get support for this new tax. Once the tax was in place, they immediately started using the tax for purposes other than why it was passed. Today, almost none of the money collected from that tax is used for the reason it was passed.

Because of this, a large group of people got together and said that they wanted to stop the tax. Since the tax was being used incorrectly and the people had been lied to, the people claim they want their money back. Of course, socialists, being socialists (aka Democrats) are very angry about this idea that they might have less of your money to spend. They are VERY angry that you might take your money back. Therefore, they've resorted to extortion.

These socialists are now saying that if you DARE to vote to "punish" these people for being liars by taking your money back, they are going to punish you HARD. They will raise your property taxes (to force the suburban vote). They're going to take away all public buses (to force the inner city vote). They're MAD that the people actually want to hold them accountable, and they're openly threatening people who would dare to reduce a tax (any tax).

And they're winning. According to recent polls, people are caving into the extortion. People are saying they are afraid of having their property taxes increase, so they're supporting leaving the other tax increase in place. Others are also saying they like the bus system and they're terrified that the buses will be taken away -- even those who don't like what the current tax is being used for.

Charlotte city government is completely full of filth and scum. They're openly using extortion and open threats to ensure they stay in power and have MORE money. If anyone else were to take the actions this government is taking, they'd be in jail. But this is government in North Carolina today -- they are completely and totally above the law and above reproach. Fight them at your own risk.
