Susan Burgess wants to raise taxes

Susan Burgess, city council member, 9/20/2005:

I would say I was the one that stood between the people and a tax increase.

The county has had no choice but to raise property taxes for school construction.

What we don't want to do is price our work force out of our city.

After Police Chief Darrel Stephens asked for more officers, she said, "Well, I guess we're going to have to give people what they want and raise taxes for more police officers."

This is completely dishonest. However, most people buy into this lie. Instead of spending MORE money, they could just REDUCE spending in other areas! This is how Democrats/the left/socialists/big government-types work. They raise taxes for things they should actually be doing (protecting people), while wasting money on every other program and special project they can find.

They just raised taxes to pay for the Nascar Museum. The new stadium they built cost millions and millions of dollars -- with "no tax increase." It's all a shell game. Jeff Taylor points out another example of the shell game.

These Democrats on the city council are nothing but a bunch of liars who will quite literally do anything to take more money from people so they can spend it. It used to be called "theft." Now it's called "politics." -- and it stinks.
