Too Many Hospitals?
Hey look! Yet another illustration of what happens when government gets way too big and out of control. Right now one hospital is
asking the state Supreme Court to CLOSE another hospital!
Why? Because they don't like the competition.
These two hospitals have been fighting for YEARS. The old hospital doesn't want the new hospital to be built at all, and the new hospital wants to expand. There have been court battles about this!?!
Why in the world would the court be interested? Has no one else in North Carolina even heard of freedom? If someone wants to build a damn hospital, by what right does ANY court have the power to say, "No, I'm sorry, I don't want to let you help people?"
This is just total crap. This is one business trying to use the government as a hammer to prevent competition. And you can be sure that the older hospital is sending TONS of cash towards legislators to try and get their way.
This is beyond wrong, plain and simple. Get government the hell out of hospital location management!

I don't see why this should even go to court. Also who wouldn't want more hospitals?

It's government control. The hospital that gives the most money to legislatures is going to be allowed to have a monopoly on who can provide hospital services. They complain about "not having enough patients."
That's what the damn free market is supposed to be about. If *I* think there's enough patients and I want to spend MY damn money treating them, there is absolutely NO reason the government should stop me. The only reason they are considering it is because the competition is bribing government officials.

Free market might lower the cost of healthcare I thought that was what we all wanted. Hmm.

You're both right -- the one who bribes the most will get to charge the most. And, of course, will get lots of cash in return from the government when the government pays for many health care services -- which will cost more because there is not competition. It's sick.
